Hello Fans, From coming from the UK , I personally prefer the original version of millionaire , from 1998-2006. I remember one account of me watching it with my grandmother and grandfather of a Saturday night and hoping that the contestant would get through the next question. It was tense. It stayed like that until 2006 when all hell broke loose. I will make no secret now that I dislike the new "Shuffle" format introduced in 2007 by Two Way Traffic (later purchased by Sony) . I personally believed and still to this very day that the Shuffle format ruined any possible tenseness between Chris and the contestant and this led to the demise of UK Millionaire ( If you want to read more of my previous post about the demise of UK millionaire then click Here) But this is only my opinion and I am open to anyone elses. WWTBAM0118 P.S. I am sorta new here so nice to meet you

Huh? The UK never used the Shuffle format. I'm guessing you mean the 12 question "Rave" format, but how did it ruin the tension of the show? It didn't change the game much.

Yes, apologies I ment the "rave fromat", I believed that this removed the tension and familiarity with the enitre program, For these reasons :
- Using the new format had now alienated viewers entirely and caused them to watch "Big brother" instead - By having the clock instead of increasing the tension I personally thought it decreased it because the clock format removed the "shout ability" that David Briggs entire thought for the program was thus decreasing views.

How did the new format alienate viewers? The only differences were the music and the amount of questions. It was hardly a show-ruining format.

The timer wasn't introduced in the UK until 2010, and it makes little difference to the average viewer how many questions are played, what the music sounds like, or what the graphics look like. The show had simply run its course. Its viewership declined relatively consistently over the years, and even before any changes were made. They wouldn't have altered the format if everything had been laughter and rainbows.

Both of your points are true, although I would have rather watched WWTBAM die in 2006 when the last few viewers were left, as appossed to the new money tree format and the new music and the set which was far too lit up. It worked better the old way. This is only my opinion regardless and I take and accept Gagamillionaire and millionaireloveruk opinons. This is just what I personally believe.

The rave format did have one fundamental flaw to it: eliminating the first three questions.
The first five questions are there for a reason. You want this contestant, who is likely very nervous about being on their first game show and playing for a cool million, to settle in and get comfortable. Giving the player five very easy questions is a great way to do it. The player reaches that first milestone and is thinking "Ok, this isn't so bad. I can do this," instead of hitting the ground running like was required with the rave format, and again with the Shuffle format.
Having your first question be Question 10 difficulty is not a good way to ease in to the game, and there's a reason many Shuffle players went out around Question 5. The UK rave series had a similar problem. £50,000 was not attained nearly as much as £32,000 was. And no, not even 32/50ths as much.

I agree with you entirely ! Its what I think the problem was , although making the program perhaps more exciting , it entirely removed familiarity with the entire format. It may have become boring or tedious but everybody new and loved it even if they hadn't explicitly said so but atleast people knew it. As apposed to here British people here is something you know and watch even if it may not be new or original what we are going to do is ruin it and give you this rubbish instead. Horray! No !
Although a lot has changed since the original UK series back in '98
