So I turned on Millionaire for the first time in a bit yesterday, and they are currently having a special "Armed Forces" week on the show itself.
The main thing about this week is that they have given all contestants a 4th lifeline, called "Cut the Question". It's basically a toned down version of the original "Switch the Question" lifeline, where the contestant can only use it up to the $50,000 question itself, and supposedly it switches out the question to an easier one for the same money amount.
What do you guys think of it? I personally like it but at the same time, I wish it could be used past the $50,000 question, cause that would add A LOT more strategy into the game itself.

Personally, I like this new lifeline, because it's a little bit different from "Switch The Question" (as STQ could be used after question 10), and also because it makes reaching the 2nd safe haven easier, making the game more interesting as the contestants will more often face 3rd round questions, which in my opinion, are the best part of the game.

I don't really agree with any lifeline that's taken away from you because you didn't use it early enough. That's an issue I had with JTQ, but it's more magnified here. I understand why they're doing it this way, because they're making a point to give you an *easier* question instead of an equal difficulty question. I'd just as soon do it the normal way, and let them use it any time.
I'm actually a bit surprised that they added a fourth lifeline this week. Historically, whenever they've had specialty weeks, the contestants have played with no special rules. The only time a fourth lifeline was introduced was when the specialty contestants were patently disadvantaged due to their age (Whiz Kids week and Off to College week, both of which featured teenagers.) Don't get me wrong, I'm all for throwing a bone to our uniformed heroes and I thank them for their service. I just thought the whole thing was a bit curious.
While we're on the subject, why not run this week during Veteran's Day week, which would have coincided with the sweeps period.

After watching the past few years, I'm beginning to wonder if the "fourth" lifeline will be something that keeps changing throughout the shows running? The "Crystal Ball" was the only specialty lifeline that kept returning during Meredith's time in the Halloween weeks series. Since then I don't think I've seen any other specialty lifeline return for use more than once (at least not under the same name) and not counting the "Sister Switch" lifeline that was in a specialty episode with the Braxton sisters appearance.
In my own opinion though I would like to see the Double Dip lifeline return, but that is just me...
At least now I have my own apartment and DVR box to record the shows so I can starting watching more often now...
