There's a lot of choices here. I'd love to hear from all of you.
I particularly had Steve Harvey or maybe even Barbara Walters in mind...

Absolutely not on Steve Harvey. When they hired Chris Harrison, I hope they figured out that hiring an actor/comedian is NOT the way to go for Millionaire. Seasoned broadcasters all the way.

Very true. I believe Cedric is to blame for that.

Finally a host most of us like again, and you're already talking about a new one. Don't make me nervous, man...
I found it pretty self-explanatory that "sassy guy with 'funny' looks" wouldn't work on a drama-based show. But that's show business for you. That Steve Harvey is not a good match for Millionaire has already been proven when he guest hosted. Barbara Walters...interesting. Not somebody who'd immediately come to mind, but it could work. I find her a little distant, but that's not an issue for this gig. Yeah, why not?
I can't immediately think of anyone who'd be a perfect match in my book. Then again, I'm not American, and didn't know any of the former Millionaire hosts (not even Regis) before they did the show. Based on her CV, Meredith wasn't exactly an obvious choice, and she got into the groove. "Never judge a book by its cover" very much applies here, and we can only be sure whether somebody is a good fit by seeing them host Millionaire.

You made some excellent points, Gagamillionaire. What you said about Meredith read my mind -- out of all of them, she was my absolute favorite, even over good old Chris Tarrant. I felt most comfortable and on edge with her, not something that happens with the other hosts really. I really wish she would come back.

Also, I think John Quinones has a lot of potential to be a great host. Sure, he's a little old, but he can definitely make it work. He certainly has experience with hosting the drama type shows anyway.
I was browsing the interwebs when I saw this What Would You Do? video on WWTBAM, and John Quinones read a question to Meredith near the end of the segment. I think he said the question very well, and fit the tone of the show perfectly all-the-while keeping it somewhat dramatic.
(Skip to 6:00 for the bit)

If he leave a Millionaire no one will host because Regis cannot to host because he is old, Meredth can't, others cannot to host

I second what you said, Gagamillionaire. Looking back now, maybe I was a little bit wrong about that Steve Harvey suggestion. *cringe*

Well, Steve actually filled in for Meredith for a week during the clock era, and well... some of us know how that went.
IMO, he probably would've been better if there was no clock. He commonly wasted valuable time on the clock making jokes when he should've been reading out the answers. He was enjoyable though. I really liked how much fun he was while he was there, but I couldn't really imagine him lasting for a whole season. A little bit goes a long way.

I do not remember seeing those episodes at all! I watched the clip, and I must say, I'm shocked at how much time he wasted. However, he did have a little bit of the dramatic game-show personality bits in there, but not a lot. He was very enjoyable and interesting, nonetheless.

Here's a unique answer: No one.
If US Millionaire dies off for whatever reason, and three years pass, Sony and 2waytraffic can swoop in and restore it to its former glory.

Interesting...It means the US could go back to the classic format!? Well, I don't live in the US, so I couldn't watch it, but personally I prefer this format (Classic Format). It would be great for WWTBAM to go back to the old days!
