Hi, for those living in Australia, Channel 9 has announced that this Monday (20 July 2009) someone will reach the million dollar question.
Being the new format of the show with no walking away, their only options will be to get it right and win $1,000,000 or get it wrong and win $1,000.
This makes it the second person to reach the million dollar question, as earlier in June, another person made it to the top but was stumped by the last question and lost, plummeting down to the $1,000 safe level.
So far, the highest prize won is the prize directly under the million, $250,000.
What do you think of Hot Seat Millionaire?
P.S If someone could record it and post it (e.g. on YouTube) that would be appreciated because I cannot see that day's episode.

THAT is INSANITY and really unfair! I mean what makes the "Millionaire" great is that you get the chance to look at a question and walk away if you don't feel comfortable to answer it (and you keep what you have). To be forced to answer a question and then lose $999,000 for missing it is shows that Hot Seat Millionaire is a pretty cheap version.

Unfortunately no, the guy was smart and worked his way from question one to 13 without lifelines (you don't get any in the Australian version anyway) but stumbled on a question about 'scales'. I can't remember the exact question but the answer was the measure of the 'hotness of chilli's' and he said 'bitterness of beer' or something similar.
Crashed straight down to $1,000 unfortunately.

I also think they should add another milestone at e.g. $10,000.
In the Netherlands there also was a contestant a few years ago (2003) who had €250,000 and played for €1,000,000.
Unfortunately, he gave a wrong answer, but atleast he still got €16,000.

ANOTHER person got the MDQ wrong. WTF is with that? I mean, come on. You should be allowed to walk on the million dollar question. To have 2 Million Dollar losers in the same year or within a half year is something ONLY Japan can accomplish. Leave it to the Japanese for that stuff.

It's official, tonight there will be another $1 Million question on Hot Seat. I will report on how it goes, although it will probably be posted on YouTube. EDIT: He lost it.  Poor guy  He was rotated in at Q6, after the first 5 easy questions, so he basically climbed the full money tree with no lifelines at all, they should at least allow the person playing the final question (whether it be $1 Million or not) to walk away. This brings the record up to three Q15 losses  |

It really is! I personally blame the format, because as the person in the hotseat isn't allowed to walk away and it is obliged to pick any answer, the three people to ever see a MDQ have locked in an answer that they believed is correct, when in fact, it isn't.
BL, you saw the entire episode, didn't you? How did the MDQ go along?
