Set those VCRs! Al Roker is guest-hosting "Millionaire" all this week!
I'll update with more information as it becomes available (or when I see the show).

Al Roker will be hosting the syndicated version of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" all this week. He is filling in for Meredith Vieira, who, due to scheduling conflicts, could not be present for the taping of the week's episodes.
Also, Tom Bergeron will also guest-host an upcoming week of "Millionaire" in place of Meredith. More information on this guest appearance when it becomes available.

Al Roker did a good job on Millionaire last night! He surprised me. He knew all of his cues, and kept the game flowing well. My only complaint would be the way he reads the questions (he breaks them down into "three word chunks" sometimes), but other than that he was a good, witty host. And was it just me, or did more questions fit in due to less "talk time" with the contestants?

FIRST off WOWWWW its been awhile since I've hit up this forum...I've been so busy with schoolwork at N.C. State University and I am now on my spring break! Yeah I think Al is doing a great job for this week...I do agree that Al should read the questions in a more straightforward manner especially from $25,000 and upward (to match the difficulty of the questions so that contestants feel comfortable). As far as the in-between time with the game itself I think it's Al's personality that just keeps the game going quicker more than Meredith.
By the way, I don't know if you know about tvgameshows.net...it is an AWESOME site paying homage to game shows and also current news. If you look under the "Cover Story" feature there is archived audio play of Leigh Hampton and Michael Davies talking about why Millionaire has growing substantially with Meredith as host AND it being sydnicated. Tell me what you think!!!

Oh yeah also, for anyone to reply, what do y'all think can surely be added to the current syndie Millionaire that would make it even better and/or pay homage to the primetime Millionaire days?!?!?...I myself would love if syndie Millionaire could incorporate more of the aerial camera angles from primetime Millionaire and to also have the screen/box out in front of the contestant and the host that shows the hundred dollar bills!

I agree about the camera angles. I know it's a syndicated show, and thus is a bit formulaic, but they need to mix it up a bit. I always get excited when they incorporate a new camera shot into syndicated Millionaire.

It's been a while, but I'm back. (I'm also swamped with work, so I keep missing the show for one reason or another.) I'm a little miffed I missed Al this week (*hint* Youtube *hint*), but with Meredith taking time off, hopefully, other people will fill in.
-Bring back the "check tempt". When it was done during the primetime series, you knew it was serious money. -Slow down the pace. I know that means less players, but I feel the pace of the game needs to be slow for the game to be enjoyed more. -Re-institute the bonus. With so many episodes and players gone since the million was won last, I think it's high time it was brought back. If someone does win it in the near future, then start it again at $500,000, then work your way back up. But more money means more drama.
