Essentially what Upfronts are is that TV networks reveal what is coming up for next year's programming. Channel 9's takes place on November 8. (Some time in November 7th most likely in USA and Europe) With my 18th birthday on November 8th as well, it's sort of like a present I would imagine Hot Seat will get renewed for 2017 but it needs a major overhaul in my opinion.

Does it really need an overhaul? Seems that people actually like this format. What would be the thing(s) they change? Besides say music cues... I kind of figured the studio just went through an HD overhaul not too long ago.

I suggest they change the format of the show.
Possibly make the show 45-60 minutes long to allow a rule change. Instead of when a contestant gives a wrong answer, the top prize falls, the top prize stays at $1,000,000. Theoretically there could be as much as 20 questions asked in one show.
Another change could be a pernament milestone of $10,000. Maybe some lifelines other than pass can be pernamently instated. The set does indeed look good but I would suggest the lights get darker as the contestant/s go up the money tree.
The reason I am suggesting a overhaul is that I am thinking of ratings is that Channel 9 surely want their quiz show to be Number 1 in ratings again. Almost all episodes since The Chase Australia started have seen defeats in ratings.

Any news from the upfront presentation about a renewal for Hot Seat?

Sorry for the delay. Looks like Hot Seat is returning. Here is the article. tvtonight.com.au/2016/11/upfronts-2017-nine-highlights.htmlHowever notice that the Hot Seat paragraph is way down in the article. In my opinion it shows Channel 9's confidence in the show. Looks like also there is no change to the format or otherwise, the Hot Seat paragraph would be positioned higher and maybe with a photo for increased importance.
