Hello there... I've been watching the Aussie game show "The Chase" now for a couple of weeks and all I can say, it really is an awesome format. (I am not dissing "Millionaire" here, as it has a big space in my heart too) It's for those who don't want to straddle for too long on questions and the questions are like from a machine gun that keeps on firing. I especially love the Final Chase, it's really nail-biting. The Chasers really make up a very formidable team. But I'm here to talk about its host Andrew O'Keefe. I to be frankly honest, even if I'm not an Australian myself, HATE him on this gig. Even a lot of people in its official fan page of the show seems to find him odd about his hosting style. Here are some of my particular pointers why... 1. He could have been a good host of the show (although not as funny as the classy Bradley Walsh, --The German host of "The Chase" seems to work in a formal style also but still works) but problem is his expressions, his laughs including the "Haha-HA!" are sometimes too pretentious to hear. 2. I don't know if he really knows how and when to root a contestant and when the contestant loses, it seems as if he just doesn't care about them like he does not know when to put on a motivational face, or a sad face or whatevs. 3. I don't know why he just keeps on moving his hands like he is driving an orchestra or what...but that is absolutely distracting to the viewers and to the players and Chasers, I presume 4. His accents when reading questions especially with foreign sounds just seems odd and unnatural. What do you guys think? Especially to fellow ausgameshowfan?

I feel Andrew O'Keefe is alright. Certainly no Bradley Walsh but fairly good.
A problem with Hot Seat is sometimes Eddie gives out hints to contestants in the hot seat. An example of what would not be a good situation.
If you were the contestant that only needed to wait for the contestant in the hot seat to fail, you would not be happy if a contestant for example won $250,000 based on a tiny hit Eddie gave but if Eddie did not give the hint (even a tiny one) you would absolutely know the answer and you would have won $100,000.
With The Chase Australia, there is none of that. Maybe some hints when questions and answers are read out but that is rare in my opinion.
I have the opinion if Channel 7 got someone like Bradley Walsh (or even payed the big bucks to get the man himself), the ratings would go even higher. High enough that Channel 9 would seriously be thinking of the cancellation of Hot Seat. Or at the very least a complete overhaul of the format. Check the Channel 9 Upfronts thread for my suggestions for an overhaul. (hint hint Channel 9)

I've watched a couple of episodes of The Chase Australia, and I have to say I'm not a fan. Andrew O'Keefe seems too far different from Bradley Walsh's hosting in my opinion. I don't like that the graphics seem much more 'Scaled-Down' than the UK and US versions, as well as the lack of animations. The Table also doesn't seem right to me, especially with the extra space at the top.
O'Keefe's hosting style doesn't fit a show like The Chase, in my opinion. The hosting should be much more serious. I know Bradley Walsh is a bit of a joker, but a bit of a joker will fit with most game shows. O'Keefe is more of a clown than a joker, I think. The gesticulations are way too over the top, and become boring to watch after about 3 minutes. There is not enough discussion between host and contestant after their answer has been revealed. It's simply: 'You've said (Contestant's Answer). Right answer is (Correct answer). Chaser's put:'.
His hosting of the Final Chase is worse than the maingame. I've noticed that he appears to read the questions a lot slower for the Chaser, which is completely unfair.
Speaking of the Chasers, they appear to answer a lot of questions incorrectly in the Final Chase. It would be interesting to see the amount of possible pushbacks per episode. One the Chasers, 'The Supernerd', seems very annoying to watch. His facial expressions are just far too smug for me, although I am used to seeing the Stone-Faced expressions of the UK Chasers.
Overall, I think this version is okay, but it's too far away from the UK person for me, a Brit and semi-avid watcher of The Chase, to think it compares well to the original.
