So I finally got some down time this week and so I've had a chance to get caught up on some WWTBAM HTML5 projects to make ready for Fan Games.
During this down time I got to thinking about cross-browser functionality and how some features just don't work in anything but Chrome like image masking and scaling, to name a few...
So I wanted to inquire from the group as to what you would prefer as far as functionality v.s. visual appeal?
Would you prefer that some of the apps work in all the browsers and do without the advanced visual appeal? Or would you prefer to have the advanced visual appeal and be restricted pretty much to the Chrome browser until the other web browsers catch up and begin support more of the animated side web applications?
If I keep the projects currently as they are, then the only applications that would work cross-browser would be WWTBAM HTML5 Classic Controller and (possibly) the WWTBAM HTML5 Super Controller.
The others (Shuffle, 2016, Clocked, Clocked Slots [when I get around to developing that one]) would only work in Chrome because they have some pretty advanced animations and image masking effects in their design that only Chrome currently supports.
As I've made mention before, I'm not going back to any Flash application development. Those days are long behind me and so are the hopes of making all applications cross-browser functional. At any point soon anyway, most Flash content will be rendered useless by all major web browser manufacturers because of its degrading status.
So what is your opinion on this?
Thanks,

I think I'll agree.

I think in terms of animation, Classic doesn't really have anything that's dynamic at all, so that one wouldn't really matter. Super Millionaire's graphics were a bit more interesting, so I would definitely say just Chrome for that one. But I am glad to hear these are being worked on! Can't wait to eventually see them in Fan Games!

To me, since Google Chrome is an extremely accessible program with support across multiple OSs, if it means better aesthetics and a more polished look then definitely go with the Chrome-only path.

You are not seriously thinking of posting all of these versions onto Fan Games are you?
If you are, that would be a terrific gift to Fan Games (and maybe an incentive for non Fan Game members to work on earning their membership)
I can't imagine anything would be ready before the new year (no 'Christmas presents') but that's ok. At some point in 2017 (or whenever you choose to) I look forward to that day.
Anyway in regards to browser support I think it would be better if one browser works and we get everything that you intended to put in because of the additional support.
Again Mozilla Firefox seems to be the only browser that works for me but it does not have everything in it (for example the Phone A Friend 30 seconds does not have the yellow being steadily being removed during the 30 seconds.
Because I am doing a sort of Facebook series of Millionaire games for fun with my friends, I wanted to make sure that any other browsers did not work. Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer and Google Chrome do not work.
I know you said to me that it should only work on Google Chrome and it did not matter which computer I have.
However something must be not right if Mozilla Firefox is the only one that works and not Google Chrome being the only one that works.

Yes, Chrome should work on any operating system as long as you set up any free web server properly.
I was on the fence about releasing the Clocked version because there are some dynamic components that I have to work through on it and am trying to find the best way to handle those components. The clocked version would be the last one released whenever I figure out how to handle it properly for those dynamic components.

osswmi, I would prefer using only Chrome. I have a Windows 10 PC and I don't think your projects are designed to work on Microsoft Edge well. And, how long do you think your projects will be finished?

When you say 'possibly', what do you mean? If you decide to release to Fan Games even just the Super and the Clock format version, I would give you a virtual handshake (as I can't give you a real one quite obviously)

I would definitely say just Chrome for that one. go with the Chrome-only path. I would prefer using only Chrome. Yeah, so... does somebody have thinked at some users using Firefox ? Apparently not... Firefox is the browser that I frequently use - More than Chrome. And then, before that I back to an initial configuration of my device, I used Chrome only at 5% of my time. So I don't wanna install another time Chrome to only use a game controller or uninstalling Firefox and make Chrome as my principal web browser either. So what is your opinion on this? I don't know either... I was going to say : Making a different compatibility for those using a different web browser than Chrome like you said here : Would you prefer that some of the apps work in all the browsers and do without the advanced visual appeal? Which I thought that's also a great option... But as I see, people prefers visual appearence than compatibility... And I suppose than making a different compatibility for each browsers is maybe a lot of work... So, you're up to determine what is the best and the simple thing to do osswmi . I wanted to share my opinion on this... : Done.

As long as the music and all of the different lifelines work (hopefully with lifeline activation instructions), that will be great.

Just a slight update. I'm in the final stages of drafting the "How To Use" documentation as I have finally tested all of the HTML5 Millionaire apps that I plan to release here. I should have them ready by the end of this month. Feel free to nag me if I miss that deadline though, as I am also working on other home projects as well.
