I might be in the minority when I say Merv Griffin's Crosswords was a very interesting concept on the traditional Crossword puzzle. Two players compete to solve clues to fill in a Crossword puzzle, all the while earning cash. Beginning with round 2, three "Spoilers" enter the game with the ambition of stealing a front player's podium and cash and/or prizes if the front players failed to provide a correct answer. The winning player then tries to complete the puzzle in 90 seconds to win a cash prize plus a trip. The show ran from 2007-08, with most affiliates running it in tandem with Temptation: The New Sale of the Century. A second season was recorded, but never aired. What are your thoughts about this short-lived game show?

I actually kind of liked it! Fun fact: the main theme for Merv Griffin's Crosswords is a remake of one of the prize cues from Wheel of Fortune back in the days they went shopping for their prizes!

Mostly due to ratings, and also bad scheduling time slots. It really didn't help the show all that much. Plus with merv's death as well around that time iirc. It was a deep blow for the show.
