Introduction:Hello everyone, and welcome to the thread for the very first Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?: Skype Edition RPG. This promises to be a fantastic run of games, providing entertainment and fun to all who are involved! What is this version of the Millionaire RPGs?Well, as the title of the thread points out, this is an unofficial RPG which involves contestants playing for a virtual million via Skype video calling instead of over the forum, like on the official RPGs.Why am I doing this?Since discovering the forum two years ago, I’ve always wanted to host my own RPG. Except, in a way that I could actually interact with the person playing the game. As fun as they look, I personally don’t feel like the forum’s RPGs give off the same effect as the show. Skype however, is the perfect tool for this - not only does it allow me to interact with players and possibly build a friendship with them, but it also means there are no possible ways for the player to cheat (not that I would think anyone does). How is the game played? The game is played over a Skype video call using a software that the game was made in. This software is made up of all the game’s music, graphics, and even set design in order to make the player feel as if they are in the studio environment. The screen sharing feature will be broadcast from my computer so that the other contestant is able to see everything. What is the theme for the game? The theme of the Skype Edition RPGs will often change. However, for Season 1, we are starting off with the Classic Format.
Overview:- There will be 15 questions
- No clock will be featured
- The lifelines will be the original three - 50:50, Phone-A-Friend and Ask the Audience
- The entire theme will be based off the Classic Format, for instance the graphics and set colours
- The currency value for these RPGs is the pound (£), since I am from the United Kingdom.
Available roles:[As roles are taken, this section will be actively edited]
- Computer (Question Writer - your task will be to think of the 15 questions that the player will be given - they must be of increasing difficulty. If you are given this role, please send the questions to me over a direct message).
Contestant (person who will answer questions and play the game) To claim the role you would like for this RPG, be the first to comment as these roles are operated by a first-come, first-served basis. Unlike the official RPGs, committing to post in a timely manner is not necessary, since your session of playing the game will only run for around 15 consecutive minutes on average (depending on your time to decide on the answers).Terms and Conditions (please read before signing up):This RPG series will be played via Skype, therefore you must have a Skype account AND be willing to play over a video call to assume this role. For privacy reasons, I DO NOT record, or share, any games to social media sites, unless you want to record the game yourself for that purpose, which I don’t mind at all.
You need to have your video feed on in order for me to know that you aren't cheating, otherwise it makes the game pointless.
Games with two people, or even a group of people, as the contestants will be coming at a later date. These games are only for fun, but please bear in mind that if you are a contestant on a group game and wish to record the session to share on social media, you must have consent from fellow contestants in the call. Failure to receive consent from a fellow contestant while taking part in a group call will result in the following:
(1) An instant removal from the call in which you are taking part in. (2) An instant ban from any further Skype Edition RPGs. (3) A record of your inappropriate behaviour being sent to RegisFan, who will judge your position on the forum.
Good luck! If you have any enquiries or questions, please send me a direct message.

I'd probably join if it wasn't Skype as I haven't used Skype in a long time and don't even have it installed anymore. That being said, I can't wait until Discord adds video chat.
Best of luck!

Looks interesting. Howewer, I'm agreed with GSK : over time that an update has been released, Skype's performances have dropped... Sometimes, multiples bugs for an unknown reason, one of three times, video call doesn't work, etc... In my opinion, yes, discord is more optimized than skype and I'm waiting like GSK said : video calls. But I will certainly be here to see how the game going, as an audience person.

Thank you for your suggestion and feedback. I will definitely use Discord should they release a video chat feature!

I'll join in, I'll be the contestant Hi wwtbamfangamer, Okay thank you! If you could private message your Skype username, that would be great and I will add you. The game will be played as soon as I find a question writer. Adam.

Just out of interest, when will these games be? By that I mean dates, times, lengths, etc. Will it be a series with multiple episodes, and if so, how often will the games be?

Hi millionaireloveruk, Thanks for your question. All games will be played when all of the roles are assumed. For times, it will be a case of when both the host and the contestant are available. It will be a series with multiple episodes, and there will hopefully be games played once a week - this is based off the roles being filled. Adam.

Have you considered doing what the real show does? Have multiple contestants ready and have set episode lengths, and have contestants play over multiple episodes if necessary. That would allow for regular episode lengths and avoid llama-ing out resulting in 5 minute long episodes.

It's a great idea and I'll definitely take it into account when the series begins! At the moment, I'm just struggling to find a question setter. Once that's done, it's all go!
