Because this is a thread based around Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, I probably know the outcome to this question beforehand. Anyway, feel free to vote in the poll above. I'm curious to know what everybody's favourite television shows are post-Millionaire.
Me personally, my favourite game show was the UK version of Deal or No Deal. It was a game show that had the same effect on me as Millionaire has done to people on this forum. As the great host Noel Edmonds regularly said, 'every game is different because every player is different', and how right he always was.
I always loved the UK version specifically because it was different to most other versions, which used a yellow set and cases to contain the amounts of money on offer to the contestants. Whereas, the UK version was unique. Boxes were used to hold the sums of money, and the set was much more relaxed than international versions, where the yellow was in your face all the time.
Something that was always a highlight about Deal was how Noel treated everybody. Not only the contestants, but the fellow people in the wings and the audience. He always got people involved with the show and made everybody feel welcome from the moment the recording began. That is something you don't find with every game show host.
By far, Millionaire and Deal are the best two formats I've come across. I've never been a fan of The Chase, Tipping Point or Pointless - the three game shows that are dominating daytime ratings in the UK at the moment. Unlike Deal and Millionaire, there never seems to be a sense of intensity. Millionaire had the full package with lighting and music. So did Deal. The others, however, don't captivate me due to lack in these areas.
