Hello, everyone. Ever since the format of U.S. Millionaire was changed into Shuffle, many of the elements that had been there in the earlier formats were removed, including the Hot Seat. I think that there might be a reason: Since Disney had the rights to Sony and they had made their own unique format, they were required to make some changes to the studio to make the format look different from the others. At this point, they've decided to remove the Hot Seat and replace it with a podium and a big screen to see the questions.
What do you think about it? Do you know why exactly the Hot Seat had been removed from the show - and was it a good idea?

I was a huge fan of the hot seat. I was very disappointed when they got rid of it. Meredith Vieira stated somewhere, I believe, that they got rid of the hot seat because it was too comforting to the contestant. Chris Harrison said in a Facebook live post that they are always debating whether to bring back the hot seat. He said that standing creates a lighter feel for the daytime audience. I believe this was a bad idea to get rid of the hot seat because it was an icon to the show. This was one of the many things WWTBAM was known for.

Pretty much everything about the shuffle format was so different that literally NO OTHER COUNTRY did this! I would at least like to know if any other country did away with the hot seat entirely.

Nope, there's no international versions that got rid of the hot seat. Yes, that's true. This is indeed what makes the Shuffle format different from the others. Since Disney does own the rights to the show, I guess it was inevitable that their changes would be unique compared to other international formats of WWTBAM. |

I think that the removal of th hot seat is and will always remain controversial, because it meddles with a very well established aspect of the show. However, I think that wih th changes done to the show in the shuffle format, the hot seat was the least of the problem, I mean everything was so brutally changed from one season to the next that we didn’t have time to get used to the changes. I mean how can they change the game format, hot seat AND music all at once?
