Hey guys,
I was thinking about how the Lifelines role works in an RPG, and have realised a potential issue with it. The fact it is only controlled by one person could result in one or more lifelines potentially becoming less valuable. For example, if the contestant is on the final question with the lifelines Phone-A-Friend and Ask the Audience remaining, both of these lifelines would give them the same result, as they are controlled by the same person. (This actually occurred with Prizes in RPG 50, as well as a couple of other times.) I feel that this could potentially leave a contestant at a disadvantage, should they need to use two lifelines on the same question.
I do realise that there may not always be the people power available to have two or three lifeline generators, but I will try and lay out some of the pros, and cons, of this idea:
PROS
CONS
That is pretty much all I could think of in terms of arguments, but I have created a poll with this thread to pitch this question to you all, a non-binding referendum, if you will.
It goes without saying, but please feel free to put your thoughts and ideas below, as well as casting your vote! I can see the argument to both sides of this, but I would like to see what you all think.
Thanks! MLUK

I do realise that there may not always be the people power available to have two or three lifeline generators, but I will try and lay out some of the pros, and cons, of this idea:
PROS
- It could help avoid situations such as the one above, which slightly penalises contestants who have a good run.
- If there were more than one choice for PAF, the contestant could try and pick someone they think would be more helpful, like on the real show.
- If one member signed up to do the lifelines goes AWOL, there is always someone to act as a backup besides the Host and the Computer, who both have access to the correct answer.
- Lifelines such as Three Wise Men could be performed in a better way, although this could take up a large amount of time.
- It could help to get more people involved in the RPGs, and allow more participants than we currently have.
CONS
- Sign up threads could be open for considerably longer.
- Toing and froing between Hosts and Contestants deciding which person to ask could take longer than needed and slow the game down.
- Lifelines such as 50:50 and ATA would still probably be controlled by a single person, which kind of nullifies the meaning of this idea.
- Somebody could sign up as a Lifeline Generator, but then not be needed in favour of somebody else.
