In my opinion, the new music package is really good for its time. It's not like the old music package, yes, and nothing could ever beat the old music package, but I think the new music package still goes well for the current version of Millionaire.

I have to say, at the risk of sounding a bit vain, I am so glad that my thread sparked so much interest.... People in production of this show, should really start paying attention to this aspect of the show!

Well, I don't know if we (or at least I) can really scold a three day old account for bumping a thread other than to just tell him to read the rules.

Was it a dead thread bump? Yes. But at least it was two months and not two years. I have a feeling I'll have plenty of chances to do what I do best... if ya catch my drift

Let's continue the debate! When the shuffle format comes up, I used to hate the the classic millionaire level music so much because they don't really lifts up the mood, but as they change up the third tier level, I starting to grow to love it. My only beef is that they do it <correct music> (pause) <money music> instead of just doing the <money music>. It seems like ruined orgasm? I find like the current music is classy while the original music is classic. Some people will have their taste, but I don't necessarily think that a music change is the end of the show? I have to say, at the risk of sounding a bit vain, I am so glad that my thread sparked so much interest.... People in production of this show, should really start paying attention to this aspect of the show! (A little off topic (or too meta?) but I find it necessary to meet the "new contribution" quota and (hopefully) provides new perspective.) Now that we talk about it, should the production really pay attention to music? We debate about music a lot because we think it's everything--but I think sometimes it's over-debated because we're avid fans so we're obsessed with the little details. However, I think if I ask my casual viewer friends about this show, 10 years after it went off air in my country, I don't think they would associate The Millionaire with the music. I did a little survey and what they would associate The Millionaire with be the host, the money, and the three lifelines--not the music. Nobody ever mentions about the music, the lightning, or the stage because they are doing exactly what they need to do-- as a background, a property that subconsciously effects you. You are not meant to pay attention at the music, you are meant to pay attention at the player. The music is important for us because we're Millionaire Geeks, but Millionaire Geeks does not make the huge proportion of the audience. We're probably only < 0.01% (sad indeed) of the audience. In the grand scheme of everything, the producer won't bother even if we stop watching because we hate the music as long the music is good enough for the casuals to stick around. I do agree that music is the identity of the show--however--in terms of casual viewers, I think the production is doing exactly what they need to protect the identity of the show. They have darken the studio at 6 figures question (it's not pitch black like it used to be--but still darker--progress!) which is crucial because casual viewers has short attention span and proper lightning help them to focus. They have returned to classic money tree from shuffle, because shuffle is very confusing for casual viewers. My point is (I think?) we have to make peace with the music change and be a little bit nicer to the producer, I guess. Sometimes financial and entertainment perspective is different than fan perspective =P

Actually, I think that Millionaire made a name as being one of the first TV shows to have a continuous music theme which changed as the questions were getting more difficult. The opening music has become so recognizable all over the world that I hardly think there’s any country that would not buy the rights to the classic sound cues and music. As for the correct question cue, you are correct, there is no rythm and no spark in these cues... they sound generic af. Just a noise to signal a correct or an incorrect answer. And I don’t even get why they needed to change the sounds in the first place? Did they get so expensive that a huge American network couldn’t pay for the rights?

I might get shot for this...
But I actually LOVED the Shuffle Soundtrack. It was a new season, and they wanted to give everything an update, and to me, the new soundtrack AND the Shuffle Format was actually BETTER than the Classic format and Soundtrack. The Shuffle format brought a new degree of strategy and surprise, and the new soundtrack did a good job of covering that!
