Hey guys, I recently purchased Australian Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? 2nd Edition for PS1. I wouldn't recommend it specifically unless you want the Australian manual which uses the yellow lifeline icons and the Australian logo. The game is the UK 2nd edition with Chris Tarrant and UK questions.
Edit: I may have been the victim of a disc swap however the video on youtube contains nothing to say if it's a first or second edition game.

So are there any differences between the Australian and British releases gameplay-wise, or are they exactly the same thing just with a different manual?

No gameplay differences at all for the Australian version (I haven't played the British PS1 game but have played the PC port of it and they are identical except for the lights down cues being missing. The manual appears to be the only thing changed and maybe the rear cover of the case. Chris Tarrant does all the voice work, all the values are in pounds. Even the intro sequence has pounds and the British logo. If you guys want, I can screen capture runs that answer specific questions.

I'm willing to bet that your disc was replaced with the UK one.

I just looked at the rear cover and it is also an Australia specific cover as the lifeline graphics are the yellow Australian versions. I doubt the disk was swapped for a UK disc as I am Australian and I purchased it from a bricks and morter second hand store.

Sorry for the double post, just updated the first post with a YouTube video I stumbled across that was only posted 5 days to this post showing a very different and very Australian edition. It however has nothing to say if it is a 1st or second edition.

The video plays like the 1st edition, and it feels like it. Yeah, without a dobut, it's the Australian version of the 1st edition of WWTBAM.

Wait, hang on, there's no Australian port of the second edition of 'WWTBAM?', there's no proof that's there one, you just got the disc swapped!
