I know this will all be hypothetical unless anyone attended a very early recording from before they permanently left the monitors in place during FFF. Do we know if the host and contestant screens were run off the same computer as the one used by the computer operators in the gallery? I would assume not for good practice as it would prevent a mouse cursor being visible amungst providing dedicated resources to ensuring they were up to date all the time.

So multi-screen display cards were REALLY expensive back in the day. Like... REALLY expensive. Matrox had the market locked for it and the tech was really pricey.
What I'm willing to bet is that there were two computers: one for the host and contestant and one for the FFF. The FFF computer would send one video signal out to the 10 monitors and then receive the input from the 10 touch pads (buttons, screens, etc.) back to the same machine.

So many questions about all this... How did they connect the screens to the controls for example...? I saw no cables and they are obviously not inside the floor... so how did they receive the signal?

I assume the cables were all inside the gray casing and went down the middle pipe. Note that although the floor is see u through, there is a column in the middle where there are lights. You could certainly hide the cables there. As for the FFF computers, notice that the sitting area for the contestants is not on the plexiglass.
