Hi everyone!
So I've followed millionaire for quite some time and I've never seen a lifeline that does what I'm about to describe. If this lifeline has existed or still does please correct me.
I think it would be cool if there was a lifeline called "Threshold". First off, imagine millionaire had no milestones. "Threshold" could be activated on any one question and would act as a milestone for one question. If the contestant is wrong on that question, money isn't lost. If the contestant is correct they keep playing the contestant does have the new amount of winnings however on the next question they are again risking them. Basically it would be used strategically and the contestants could potentially save themselves a fortune on one question. If they save it until the last question, they would have a risk free shot at 1,000,000.
I am not a game designer just a fan but if any of you gamers on here like this idea feel free to put it to good use. I think it would make the game really exiting!

So it just gives you a free guess on that question? Once you advance, it's all back to normal?

Correct. I think it would be more exciting if the game didn't have the set milestones. This lifeline would allow contestants to create their own. But yes as you said normal gameplay would resume if they advance. Any thoughts on whether it might work or not?

Well, the UK edition with Jeremy Clarkson did give the contestants the option to set the second milestone themselves. However what is essentially a free guess isn’t a very good lifeline to me simply because it’s too powerful. They only other way that some editions of Millionaire gave to such a low-risk path would be combining 50:50 and Double Dip which comes at the great cost of burning two lifelines. What I am trying to say is that a lifeline needs to have a kind of cost for the players as it is not there to fix their lack of knowledge but just provide them with better insight or chances.

In Britain, if a contestant chose to set their second safety net, they had to set it first, then get the question correctly in order for the second safety net to occur. When would the player choose to set it and when would it take effect?

Before every question was asked, the contestant was asked whether he/she wanted to set the second safety net at the amount he/she was playing for, unless it was set before.
