Hi, I'm Ultrawave Productions, formerly Ultrawave Studios. As a lifetime fan of Millionaire, I've aspired to create my own fangames and other content based on the show.
I've played around with creating simple WWTBAM fangames, mostly through Windows Batch code and PowerPoint. Along with me creating my own fan video series based on, and with the help of Segasonic623, I've gained skill in video, audio, and image editing to use in future projects.
One of the things I want to become is an indie video game developer, so during Sophomore year I took a class in programming, with us learning Visual Basic, or VB.NET. At the end of the course, we were tasked to create our own video game using our knowledge in the language. I created a basic Who Wants to be a Millionaire game.
It was very simple and anyone with brain cells who took a glance at the code would've died laughing, but I knew enough to get the job done.
Later during Senior year, I was a part of a Computer Tech program, and as a final project we had to create something that relates to Computer Tech. While some opted to do physical things like build a computer, I decided to take my knowledge of VB.NET and create a much better version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire with questions related to the course.
After over 100 hours of work time, here's what I came up with:
Every so often I would set this up at the front of the class and let my classmates have a go at testing their knowledge.
If you'd like to play it, you can download it here.
NOTE: It's a little clunky to install so make sure you read the readme first. If you have any problems, please contact me.
NOTE 2: To prevent distribution of copyrighted material, the download will provide no music or sound effects. You still have my sexy voice to listen to, though.
I am planning on working on bigger and better WWTBAM projects in the future as I learn how to program more. At the moment I'm learning C++ for use with Unreal Engine 4. Who Wants to be a Millionaire is likely going to be among my first games using this.
If you're interested in my other works, please check out my portfolio thread where I'll be updating it as I make things.
Now, after reading through a few other auditions on this forum, I believe there will be a few points that I'm gonna want to address.
- Low recent activity: I created this account back in 2014, but after about 9 posts (some of which are embarrassing to look back on) I stopped using the website. I came back a few days ago to give this community another shot, and I'm liking it so far.
- Already asking for Fan Games access: The audition rules say that spending time on the board to build trust and relationships with the community is highly recommended, and people who quickly ask for a pass may come off as being desperate, however as of late the site seems to have slowed down. There are currently only a small handful of threads that were posted/replied to in 2019; everything else is beyond the 45-day dead thread threshold, and I don't think I have anything substantial enough to contribute to warrant replying. Same goes for most threads even from the past month.
I do intend on becoming a regular of this website outside of Fan Games, however. I've really missed out on a lot and I partially regret not being a part of it sooner.
As a game creator, I want to create games for two primary reasons: To expand my knowledge and build upon my skill of programming for the time when I become a full-time developer, and to show everyone just what I can do with that knowledge and skill, creating something people will enjoy playing.
Thank you for reading and for considering my audition. I hope to share my works with you all. =)
