First off, I just want to say that it feels really weird to be using a dedicated forum site. I am way too used to Reddit.
Morning all. I go by the name of Jillips. A combination of my first and last names. Very original, if I do say so myself. I hail from the Hoosier state, and am currently studying safety management.
I began watching this series on and off in 2007 and took more of an interest when it returned to primetime in 2009. It became one of the only programs I watched in 2010, second only to my favorite series of all time, The Middle.
My history with this show is a bit off the beaten path. The reason this became one of the only shows I watched is because it was the only show I was interested in that was on during hospital visits to get treatment for a rare disease I have. My mom and I were in the "play at home" for a long while, but it was one of the best ways to keep myself connected to the outside world while I was either at the hospital, or stuck at home.
In early 2011, Make-a-Wish approached my family, giving me the opportunity to go anywhere and do anything. After some time considering, I decided to wish for a trip to New York City to see Millionaire be taped. That ended up happening in August, and I got a lot more than I bargained for. I was invited to get on stage to play for the "million", a look backstage, seeing Meredith at the end of the day, and above all else, a front row seat right behind the contestant. I even got lunch at the ABC cafe. Seriously. It was probably the greatest day of my life, rivaled only by other days of the trip.
After Meredith left, I only started watching the show on and off. It didn't help that they changed the time and channel to right after I would get home from school, which is when I do homework. I've been watching it more often recently. I ended up visiting New York again in 2014 to see Meredith's talk show be taped. She recognized me, which made my day. I probably made hers.
I still have a ton of merchandise, as well as the big novelty check and staff shirt that was given to me. Seriously they gave me a staff shirt.
That's my introduction, as brief as I could reasonably make it. Nice to see this show still has some sort of following. I look forward to participating here.
