I'm not too upset by the companion. It kind of has a UK Celebrity Millionaire feel to it, since it was always two players.

I loved the revival! It is going to be great having this hour of Millionaire for 8 shows. Some of the cues seemed to be off, and I thought when Jimmy asked the computer what the answer was when they came back from a break was strange. No ATH was used. There are a few things that could be tweaked, but overall very excited. Jimmy is just going to get better and better. Looks like around 6.5 million people tuned in last night. From what you guys have seen in the past, is that enough? Technically the answer not being revealed until after the commercial break has already been done by the British, Aussie and Japanese versions. That said, 6.5 million might be a great enough number to warrant a civilian version.

6.5 million is solid for 10:00 ET/9:00 CT. However, Millionaire had the Modern Family series finale as a lead-in. The real test will be next week.

Technically the answer not being revealed until after the commercial break has already been done by the British, Aussie and Japanese versions. Meredith did it a few times here in the US too, and Chris Harrison did it once or twice.

I did not do a good job wording my post, my apologies. I am trying to say, Jimmy asked the computer to reveal the answer when they came back from commercial instead of saying the correct answer himself. Ask the Host was not used on this question, which would have prompted him to ask the computer what the answer is (UK). They came back from commercial and he said reveal the answer instead of saying it himself and ad libbed a few things after, such as he knew the answer the whole time. I am saying, in the US I have been used to the host revealing the answer, not asking the computer to do it. Sorry about the confusion. {} wwtb3am, Ask the Host was used during Stonestreet's run.

I think Jimmy asked the computer to reveal the answer by mistake, then just rolled with it. Only diehard fans would have noticed since we are familiar with the Ask the Host dynamic.
Could be wrong, though. We will find out for sure if it happens again.

My guess is it was a mistake yeah. It's not a very big deal though

A bit late to the party here (darn internet), but I was very pleased with Wednesday's show. I think graphically, it is absolutely stunning. I love how they chose to not follow the British example of using white letters on a blue background but instead going with the classic white on black. I wish they chose to not follow the British example in the case of doing away with the 'straps' indicating how much money was won after each question. I miss seeing '$125,000' or '$250,000' in giant font on the bottom third of my screen. So far, so good. I thought Jimmy did great, but I am choosing not to critique his hosting the same way I do with Regis, Meredith, Chris, or the rest of them until we have a civilian episode. I know the slow pacing annoyed some, but let us consider these celebrity episodes to be a graphical and technical test bed for what is to come; for right now, we're just seeing the tech and getting back into the swing of things, the real fun will start soon enough. I look forward to Wednesday and what that 'historic event' they keep talking about will be (hopefully, it's a million win, but we'll see).

Didn’t Jimmy kind of already say that? When introducing the lifelines in the very first run, he said something along the lines of “but since we have no audience (...)”
Extrapolating that, I think it would mean that Ask the Host is a temporary solution?

Maybe Ask the Host will become a 4th lifeline if they decide to implement Ask the Audience again?
