Will this be the substitute for Ask The Audience because of COVID-19? What are your thoughts on this new lifeline and are you ready for the special?

I'm so ready for the special and they're definitely replacing ask the audience with the Ask a friend who will be sitting behind them during the show where there would be Fastest finger question contestants but of course there won't be for this stint sadly. I'm just ecstatic the show is coming back to the US, and I'm still trying to figure out how to stream ITV so we can watch the Easter Special here too on the 12th. Anyone have any suggestions? I tried installing a Kodi addon but no dice.

I like it. I've enjoyed the Ask the Host lifeline in Britain, and I'm curious to see how it does over here. I especially would like to see how Jimmy does with the lifeline. This isn't his first time hosting since I remember him on Win Ben Stein's Money. Let's see how well he does.

I'm not a fan of Ask the Host. I'd rather have a lifeline like Switch (like was used during the UK clock format) as if you and the Host have no clue, then it's a waste.

What if the friend in Phone-A-Friend has no clue either?

What if the friend in Phone-A-Friend has no clue either? Can’t every lifeline be a waste if you think about it? 50:50 - the two answers you were thinking of are the two answers remaining, or the one you think it is is gone. Ask the Audience - the audience is wrong, or they’re split. This has happened before. Switch the question - you get another question that you have no idea on. Every lifeline, if you really think about it, has the potential to be a waste. It’s part of the game. Lifelines are going to be wasted. They’re not always going to come in handy, whether you have Ask the Host or not, and I personally like the lifeline.

Even the ‘3 of the audience’ lifeline in which only people who think they know the answer stand up can go wrong; With the Double Dip you can still make 2 wrong guesses.
No lifeline 100% guarantees you to the right answer. They’re designed not to.
But let’s face it. Ask the host would probably be a lot more valuable if Regis Philbin or Chris Tarrant would still be presenting :-)

It’s a small sample size, but I think Jimmy has been 2-for-2 so far with Ask the Host. I’m not expecting him to stay perfect on this, but I think it’s shown it can work.

I definitely wasn’t saying that Jimmy or Jeremy are useless. Jeremy Clarkson knew quite some answers, and Jimmy for sure has a healthy amount of general knowledge.

Perhaps he’s maintained some of that knowledge from Win Ben Stein’s Money, a show I used to love watching when I was a kid and was just YouTubing last weekend.
