*the q9 Final Answer cue plays, replacing the question bed in the background*
A: Nineteenth B: Fifteenth C: Twelfth D: Fifth
Well that was fast... very fast and very correct! You've won $20,000! *the audience applauds as the q9 correct cue plays and the studio lights come back on*
A: Nineteenth B: Fifteenth C: Twelfth D: Fifth
*the q10 let's play cue plays as the studio dims down*
Well alright then. I feel like the computer mixed up the last two questions. Even I knew the last one. I remember the Fifteenth Amendment had something to do with Abe Lincoln and his Emancipation Proclamation, and I remembered that women were only allowed to vote way afterwards, so it only made sense. And I'm only 23 from Minnesota and barely know anything about the U.S. government... oy.
$1 million $500,000 $250,000 $150,000 $75,000 $50,000 $20,000 $10,000 $5000 $2000 $1000 $500 $300 $200 $100
So here's where we are for the moment. You just reached your second safe haven, which you set at $20,000, and so that's the least you'll leave the game with. That means you can't lose on this next question if you get it wrong.
However... if you give me the correct answer, you win $50,000, and you get Switch.
Have a look at question number ten, for $50,000...

Which singer won the inaugural season of American Idol?

I know David Cook and Jordin Sparks were in later seasons, Carrie Underwood was a little earlier, but the first winner was Kelly Clarkson, final answer.

*the q10 Final Answer cue plays, replacing the question bed in the background*
A: Carrie Underwood B: David Cook C: Jordin Sparks D: Kelly Clarkson
This has been a great game you've put on for us...
And the game will go on further, because you've just won $50,000! *the audience cheers as the q10 correct cue plays and the studio lights come back on*
A: Carrie Underwood B: David Cook C: Jordin Sparks D: Kelly Clarkson
*the q11 let's play cue plays as the studio goes completely dark, illuminating only me and the contestant*
And now I'm doubling down on my suspicions. Like, I'm not one to study pop culture at all, but this one felt like the most pop of any culture I've seen, like anyone who's not been living under a rock would know that one. But at least it won you $50,000 rather painlessly, so well done on that.
$1 million $500,000 $250,000 $150,000 $75,000 $50,000 $20,000 $10,000 $5000 $2000 $1000 $500 $300 $200 $100
This is the part of the game where we're only playing for big bucks. Questions will be getting much harder, you're only guaranteed $20,000, but the rewards are staggering. And you've just earned Switch, so if you don't like a question, just Switch it out for a new one. Simple as that.
This is question number eleven, it's worth $75,000...

How many planets in our solar system have rings?
A: One B: Two C: Three D: Four

I took an astronomy class in community college, and from that I remember Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune all having rings, so make 4 my final answer.

*the rarely heard q11 Final Answer cue plays, replacing the question bed in the background*
A: One B: Two C: Three D: Four
This is growing into an interesting development, from nearly getting stumped at $10,000 to staring this unusual space question in the face...
You even risked $30,000 to play this question, and left a Switch on the table...
And that gamble has paid off for $75,000! *the audience cheers as the q11 correct cue plays and the studio lights come back on*
A: One B: Two C: Three D: Four
*the q12 let's play cue plays as the studio goes completely dark, illuminating only me and the contestant*
You were right. Each of the four gas giants has a ring system of its own: not just Saturn, but also Jupiter, Uranus, and Neptune... and possibly Pluto, but who cares about Pluto. *the audience chuckles*
$1 million $500,000 $250,000 $150,000 $75,000 $50,000 $20,000 $10,000 $5000 $2000 $1000 $500 $300 $200 $100
Anyway, get this, you're only four away from a cool million dollars, and you still have a lifeline. But I must remind you that the stakes are getting quite large. The next question you're about to see is number twelve of a possible fifteen. If you go for it and get it wrong, you lose... *I pretend to count the difference with my fingers, at which point the audience nervously chuckles* $55,000. But, answer correctly and you win $150,000... and you'd be my biggest winner ever. Just don't blow it.
*the contestant nervously replies* Good advice.
This is the question. Remember, you can always walk away with $75,000, but have a good look at it...

In Western music notation, three sharps in a key signature indicates which major key?

I know nothing about music notation, so I'm gonna Switch the question.

Alright, this question is now out of play. *the Switch lifeline ping plays* I can now tell you that had you locked in A, the key of A major, you would have won $150,000. So there's some extra trivia for you.
A: A B: B C: C D: G
Right, question be gone, computer please. This is the new question for $150,000. Be careful as you have no more lifelines. Here it comes...
*the Switch "swoop" sound plays as the previous question is swapped for the one below*
Who became the Vice President of the United States under Theodore Roosevelt when he was sworn into the Oval Office in 1901?
A: James S. Sherman B: Charles E. Hughes C: William Howard Taft D: Nobody

This was long before the Constitution was amended to standardize the filling of vice presidential vacancies, so the answer is nobody, final answer.

Lock in D: nobody, please.
*the never before heard q12 Final Answer cue plays, replacing the question bed in the background*
A: James S. Sherman B: Charles E. Hughes C: William Howard Taft D: Nobody
Why are you so sure it wasn't Sherman, Hughes or Taft?

Post by mysteryman123 on Apr 9, 2021 16:09:24 GMT -5
Sherman was Vice President way earlier, neither Taft or Hughes were ever Vice President, and Theodore Roosevelt's only Vice President was Charles Fairbanks.

Well, it simply amazes me that you know that much about our Vice Presidents...
You've just won $150,000, well done. *the audience cheers as the q12 correct cue plays and the studio lights come back on*
A: James S. Sherman B: Charles E. Hughes C: William Howard Taft D: Nobody
*the q13 let's play cue plays as the studio goes completely dark, illuminating only me and the contestant*
Yes, it's true: Teddy got up to the Presidency after William McKinley's assassination by virtue of being McKinley's VP, but I guess the rest of the cabinet stayed where it was or sth, because Teddy did not have a Vice President of his own until 1905, after he was elected back into office. His running mate? Charles W. Fairbanks.
$1 million $500,000 $250,000 $150,000 $75,000 $50,000 $20,000 $10,000 $5000 $2000 $1000 $500 $300 $200 $100
Right, so you're at $150,000, but you have no more lifelines; it's all you for the next three questions. You can have a little peek at this next question and still walk away, but it's worth $250,000, that's a quarter of a million, if you give me the right answer. If you give me the wrong answer... you still have twenty large, but you lose $130,000.
This is question number thirteen out of fifteen, play it carefully. It's worth a quarter of a million dollars.
*the q13 question bed plays in the background*
Which car company was the first to offer seat belts as an option?
A: Nash B: Kia C: Ford D: Chevrolet
|
|
|
Post by mysteryman123 on Apr 10, 2021 19:35:40 GMT -5
Well.......I was hoping Volvo would show up. As they say, "there's a little Volvo in every car" because Volvo created the seatbelt design used by most modern cars. I've never even heard of Nash, either. However, with no lifelines left, I'm afraid this is the end of the road for me, pun retroactively intended. $150,000 is plenty more than what I planned on winning here, so I'm gonna walk away and that's my final answer.

Well if you don't know it, you take the money and run, of course. Give mysteryman123 a big hand, he goes away my biggest winner yet with $150,000! *the audience cheers as the third-tier walk away cue plays; meanwhile I depress a certain black button, instantly transferring the winnings to the contestant's bank account* Now I'm a bit curious. If it wasn't Volvo, then what was it? Now that the game's over, did you have one of these answers in mind? Which one would you have gone for?

Post by mysteryman123 on Apr 11, 2021 5:51:04 GMT -5
As crazy as it sounds, I would've gone with Nash purely on the basis that it's the only one of those four I've never heard of.
