I was rewatching old episodes of Millionaire, and this scene in particular caught my ear. Take a look, or rather take a listen:
After the contestant locks in his final answer, one would expect to hear the drum role. Instead, it goes straight from the question's ambient track to the losing cue. This isn't a nitpick or anything, just a small mistake that I picked up on. Any other mistakes related to the final answer sequence that I find I'll be sure to add them here.

There were a lot of funny little quirks like that back in the day. Kind of cool to re-watch everything.

Never noticed that before. Also I think that might of been the only time in Primetime where the Klaxon went off when a game ended at the end of the show.

If you listen closely, you can still faintly hear a little bit of the cymbal roll from the Final Answer cue. And the Wrong Answer cue sort of fades in late, so this is probably a case of the fader not being turned up when it was supposed to.

Strange that they did not fix it in post production.

There was another moment when John Carpenter said "final answer" on the last question, and the backstage operator didn't play the final answer cues until Regis practically said that John had won.

There was another moment when John Carpenter said "final answer" on the last question, and the backstage operator didn't play the final answer cues until Regis practically said that John had won. The same thing happened on his $500,000 question. That may well have been a choice made by the director to let Regis vamp before locking in the answer.
