Hello Everyone,
As most of you know, I'm a college student looking for a Programming/Game Development degree. I've been thinking about what my first software project (for fun) should be. I've decided to make it Who Wants To Be A Millionaire (of course), but based off the newest UK format. I'm from the USA, so I don't have very good access to the UK show. I have managed to find 2 episodes, so hopefully this will help.
As far as features go, here is what I ideally want (that I'm thinking of):
===
CUSTOMIZATION
-The ability to create questions read through an XML file (hopefully, I'll have an editor at some point)
-The ability to change the question values; make a custom money tree (hopefully an editor as well at some point)
FASTEST FINGER FIRST
-The ability to either play it or skip it
-The ability to choose the number of contestants (2-10).
-The ability to "introduce" the contestants.
-The ability to "play" the round (Each contestant enters their answer and the software will score it and tell you who won)
LIFELINES
50:50
The computer would randomly take away two incorrect answers; a given.
Phone a Friend
The contestant would read the question and answers to a Friend "in-person" (I would hide the question and choices until the clock is started. Once time is up, you would have to tell the friend to leave the room or something like that.) There would not be a fake/virtual phone a friend powered by the software, the lifeline would be built for presentation purposes.
Ask the Audience
A "fake" audience poll (or maybe a real audience poll entered in-game)
===
I plan to build this in Adobe Flash CS4 as soon as I learn how to use Flash & ActionScript (I haven't even started coding it) Until then, I'll take feature ideas. Now, they may or may not be added, but I'm more than happy to listen.
I'm curious as to what you think.
-Kevin
