Today marks the 25th Anniversary of our most beloved quiz show, the greatest of all time, 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?'! From 4 September 1998 to 4 September 2023. The quiz show, that changed game shows forever. Though it would've been nice to see the new series air on ITV this year, at least Sony Pictures Television remembered that it's the show's 25th Anniversary today. The official Facebook account of WWTBAM UK posted this tribute, focusing on the big winners from the past and present. streamable.com/qtydrgAnd thanks to that video, we now have a 25th Anniversary logo! Happy 25th Anniversary to the version that started it all!
Also, it’s great to see the US version acknowledged in that video! Perhaps the legal terms between Disney and Sony have evolved a bit since the Kimmel version debuted, because clips from the US version are rarely included in these montages. Or maybe it’s the shared relationship with Stellify that both the US and UK versions have that led to this. Either way, it’s fantastic!

Hard to believe it's been a quarter of a century since the show started in the UK, and lured TV viewers worldwide ever since.
When the show came to the US, it marked the start of the big money primetime game show craze (which still continue to this day to some extent).

Similarly, Challenge just started to show WWTBAM episodes with the 25th Anniversary watermark (albeit monochrome) on the top-right corner alongside the channel logo.

The US version anniversary is in 2024,so if it happens, it should happen within next year. The fact that the show is completely pushed back for 2024 shows that ITV isn't planning to observe this anniversary at all.

Special episodes in the UK still may happen, as the only reason why the show is on a 1-year hiatus is because of Rugby World Cup airings dominating the ITV1 schedule, as far as I understand. |
