The shows that Regis guest hosted are replaying again, and since I didn't get to see them the first time, I'm watching them. And there's one thing I've noticed. Even in the 10th Anniversary, Regis referred to Who Wants to be a Millionaire as just simply "Millionaire." When he originally hosted, he would say "Let's play Who Wants to be a Millionaire!" Now it's just "Let's Play Millionaire!" This might not really matter to anyone else, but it upsets me. Every guest host has to say "Millionaire" instead of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" since that's what Meredith calls the show. Why can't they let Regis say "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" Come on, it's Regis!

An interesting note: on Thursday's show, at the beginning Regis said "let's play Who Wants to be a Millionaire, oh wait, Millionaire! Yeah!" He corrected himself, when actually Who Wants to be a Millionaire is the full title of the show. I think they make Regis say Millionaire because that's what the show is referred to as now.

Yeah, I noticed that back in November. I think they want the show referred to as "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" during the opening sequence, but want the host to say "Let's Play Millionaire" during gameplay. I think that decision was made so that "Let's Play Millionaire" would become a marketable tagline or catchphrase.

Come on, it's Regis! Now that you mention it, I see it. I'm wondering if he is doing it because of Meredith taking over the show? Although, it did sound better the way he used to say it. Meredith, although, does just refer to it as "Millionaire" in several of the 2007 episodes. |
