Heck, since this site is dedicated to a show with a top prize of one million, I might as well bring in this game.
The one thing I'd like to mention - anyone remember Ken Jennings? He beat the pants off of Kevin Olmsted (I think that's his name) by winning the most money ever in TV game show history: $2.52 million in 74 appearances, which pales Olmsted's $2.18 million.

Yeah. Until 2004, a contestant could only stay on for 5 episodes. That rule was thrown out near the beginning of '04, and starting in the summer of that year, Jennings took advantage of it and stayed on the set for 74 straight tapings.
I think you still can, but I've haven't seen anyone stay more than 4 days.

And so he raked up the money through all those episodes then!

He was quite an amazing player! The odds of somebody going on for 5 days isn't big, but going on for 74 days is extremely small.

I heard from somewhere that he had set up a mock buzzer system at his home and tried to get the timing right. On Jeopardy, when Trebek finishes reading a question, a light comes on behind each of the contestants podiums which signals that they may now buzz in. I guess Ken Jennings set something like that up and used it to practice the timing. It's too bad the only real element to millionaire is knowledge.. we have the world's largest collection of mock WWTBAM software on this site, so if there was some other element that could be practiced.. well you get where I'm going

That is really creative. I have never heard of anything like that. And through various studies, doing something such as that will help you with your reaction speed, so that probably helped him a lot.
As for another element that could be practiced, I guess speed of remembering the knowledge you learned, but that's about all I can think that Millionaire would have besides knowledge.

That is quite amazing, I didn't know that someone could be on that many times...granted I haven't watched Jeopardy in a long long time, but that is just totally amazing.

It was amazing to a lot of people, because the ratings of Jeopardy were soon trouncing other rival game shows.
ike8384, I hope you haven't been affected by these tornadoes this year...
