Who? xanaftp
What? requesting access to the fan games section
Where? on these forums
When? anytime
Why? I would like to:
1. Provide insights, suggestions, and comments for people's work.
2. Search for fan games of Who Wants to be a Millionaire that will fit my needs to use for my "Who Wants to Be a Mathematician?" internet radio segment.
More info on my segment:
Currently in the works I'm working on a "fan" version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, which will be hosted on my Internet radio station once per week. It's titled, "Who Wants to Be a Mathematician?". It's like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, only with math questions.
It's not an EXACT replica of the real game, however I try to make it as close as possible.
The people listening in to the station will call a number (mentioned over the station during the segment), and the first to call in gets to play. There are 15 progressively-harder math questions in all (a few might be picture-based so the contestant may be asked to view a picture of the question in his/her web browser). Answering 5 earns 15 minutes of live broadcasting time, 10: 30, and all 15: 1 hour. There are five lifelines (3 to start, 2 to earn). Don't know how I'm going to do the lifelines yet. It depends on the fan game applications I find. But currently I'll be using 50:50, phone a friend, ask the audience, three wise men, and double dip.
The segment will be hosted on WRRJ Internet radio Station Sundays from 2pm to 3pm almost every week once finished.
Enclosed is an mp3 attachment of a test run of the segment. She didn't get very far, but this is just a demonstration of how it's going to work. The music is not that loud because the microphone and the speakerphone cannot work at the same time, so when the microphone picks up, even if the person on the phone is talking I will hear nothing if the music is too loud.
Yes, the first 5 questions are incredibly easy. But they get harder into things like basic math, algebra, geometry, trig, calculus, and college algebra when progressed.
