It's too bad. This isn't Millionaire anymore. I'm willing to give it a shot, but it seems that it's dead to me. Oh well, there's still GSN reruns.
I think the format is VERY interesting, and that this is an interesting format - but it isn't Millionaire anymore. Oh well.

One more thing. The stage manager at my test taping mentioned that they weren't going to use cold opens anymore. She could have just been referring to the test tapings, but I took it to mean that the cold opens were being scrapped for the entire season.
I guess that means we're jumping straight into the introduction sequence. I liked the cold opens for season 8 and the 10th Anniversary Celebration, but I didn't like how the audience applause was played over the theme song, so this goes both ways for me.

Really? I liked them too, but I do agree with RegisFan, I did not like the clapping of the audience over the theme song.

Cold opens are when the show jumps right into a scene before the opening sequence is shown.  |

Meaning the bits where Meredith interacted with the contestants before the intro sequence - those were cold opens.

Today on Buzzerblog, Alex Davis said that a lot of music is being inserted into the show in post production, and that audience members only hear certain beats in the studio. If this is true (and it seems likely, since the stuff we heard was really, really generic background beats), then I think the show has a big opportunity to be much better.
He also described some game scenarios that I didn't get to see, such as contestants "jumping" over questions with high dollar amounts. Those kind of moments do sound very exciting.
I'm looking forward to the premiere to see how everything looks, sounds, and feels. I have a feeling that many of us are going to be a bit more pleased with the final result than we initially anticipated.

Regisfan couldn't have said it better, I think this is going to be a good format change, sure it's not going to be great for some people, but I have a feeling most people will be just fine with it.

A new preview video is up on Millionaire's Facebook page. It gives a sneak peek at the new format, and a look at the new set, and I have to say, it looks fantastic!
