I am just amazed they didn't keep it. To tell you the truth, the reason I started watching Millionaire was solely for the music (even though it grew on me on the first show I watched). I absolutely loved the cues, and it is sad to see them go.

I know why they're gone - it's that there lawsuit! They couldn't keep it after Celador won!

I believe it was already said that the lawsuit wouldn't affect the game at all, so I think it was just a poor decision on the part of the producers.

I'll have to agree with him. I might just like it, and it seems as though each day the idea of it is growing on me, and who knows it might be a lot of fun! Will it ever be the orginal we all knew and loved, no, but it could be better than what we think it might be.
Change will happen, and this is one change that we probably can't change back.

They got rid of the old music because they didn't want to pay for it anymore. They had to pay the composer every time it was played. They probably found someone else to do it for a set fee. You get what you pay for.

One question: is the amount of money still proportional to the difficulty of the questions? I.e., is the most valuable question still the hardest, and the $100 question the easiest?

No it's not, according to the press release, it was specifically stated that the easiest question could have a $25,000 price tag and come first.

"Meredith and the contestant will stand in the hub of the stage with questions and winnings presented on a massive 18 foot-wide high definition projection screen, enabling the studio audience and home viewers to play the game along with the contestant."
This is the part I hated about the press release - what, standing up and a giant screen make the game more playable at home?

What they're trying to do is make it seem like it is the new, they've been using the same type of base for 11 years (which is just fine with me), and they felt as if they needed to update it, not a little, but a lot.

Bring back Michael Davies!

I don't want Michael Davies back at all. I didn't like the clock format at first, but then I got used to it. Everything else he did with the show, like the categories, and Double Dip and Ask the Expert, I favored. He crossed the line when he removed Phone a Friend. The questions are so much harder now than before. I am anxiously awaiting to see what the new executive producer has in store for Millionaire. The brand new format sounds very exciting. As the saying goes "it's out with the old, in the with the new."
