Wow, that's pretty much sums it up for me!
But wow, there are so many changes, and I'll be like RegisFan, open-minded. I'm not sure if I will like it or not, but who knows, it may be the best change that I have ever seen in the format. I'm excited to see what happens actually. So we'll all just have to see.
Also question to both RegisFan and divvy. Divvy: what was it like when you yelled out the I like your shoes to Meredith, and how did she react to it?
RegisFan: How did you react to it and how did the audience react?
Also that was really cool you could talk to Meredith, did you get to tell her about our forum? I bet she would've loved we had a community for the show that she hosts!

Wow, and I thought the clock, categories, and 2 new lifelines were a big change to the format! I'm not really satisfied with the money tree. They said it would be shorter, I didn't think they meant by ONE question! What's the point of that anyway?
I'm not so sure how I'll react to these changes once the new season starts. It sounds complicated. Also, it looks like the set has gotten a redesign. If anyone has pictures, I'd love to see them. No Hot Seat? Why?
Since this was only a test run of the new format, I hope some modifications will be made to make it better.

Meredith thanked Divvy for the compliment, and the rest of us chuckled at the exchange. My conversation with her took place at the end of the taping. She was getting ready to leave when I flagged her down, and she walked across the studio to me. I told her how big of a fan I was and we talked while she gave me her autograph. I didn't tell her about Millionaire Fans- the staff was trying to get her to leave the set, and she'd already gone out of her way to come over, so I didn't want to keep her too long. She was very sweet! As for Divvy's earlier comment about Windows 98, one of the audience members asked the warm-up comedian why some of the prompters were running Windows 98. The comedian really laid into him, but I thought it was a valid question, actually. I guess that's proof that not much has changed in the studio since the show premiered in 1999. The backstage area behind the audience seating is filled with electronics and computer monitors. It was great being in the studio and seeing everything in action. Also, everyone who attends a taping gets a free Millionaire t-shirt! On another note, it seems that the preview video from season 9 (the one featuring the new money tree) has been removed from Millionaire's Facebook page. Curious. |

I hope that means they're changing parts of it. I would like to remain as positive about it as possible, but from how it sounded from your visit, if that's the format they use, it sounds like it'd be good to watch for 1 or 2 episodes and then it'd get old. I don't even know why they have to change it at all. If it's not broken, don't fix it. Anyway, that's my thought right now. |

That is really weird that they took away the video, I think Finalanswer19 might be right.
That was really nice of her to come and say hi and just go out of her way, even though they wanted her to leave. Also, if it wouldn't be too much trouble, would you mind posting a picture of your t-shirt to see what it looked like?

For those curious, they asked anyone who could stay after a few minutes to remain in their seats for some reshoots. The problem was, we had been at Millionaire for about four and a half hours, most of that time spent in line while the staff got ready for the new format. It was hot, and people weren't very happy. Also, a lot of people were turned off by the fact that the episode was only a test recording, and many people had actually left the studio halfway through the show. So, not many people could stay after Meredith left because it was so much later than expected (we hadn't eaten any lunch, either). Did you stay, Divvy?
Oh, and I'll see if I can photograph the t-shirt later. You've all probably seen it, though- it's white and has the logo on it. They pop up on Ebay a lot.
