Italian Millionaire changes as well as other versions. Last night I saw the first episode of the new season. The changes are not very noticeable, unlike other editions of Millionaire. The only the only major change is they changed is that each contestant has to select only one safe level for themselves. I'm not sure about whether the contestants have a chance to take home the money they earned before the selected level or not (because i do not understand italian completely) but i bet from now they'll have a lot of zero winnings. The first episode has been uploaded here. The effect when the contestant has to select the safe level is pretty good for Italian version.

Yeah that is a good idea, and very dramatic way of choosing it.
I did notice they slowed down the Question 1-5 bed - its playing havoc with my sense of rhythm!
The Italian version drags onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.......... The first 5 questions took up nearly 25 minutes, and because she chose Q12 as her safe level and never reached it, they had their first $0 winner. Definitely more to come. 2nd guy chose a Q11 safe level. he managed to get the first 5 questions done in the remaining 15-20min of the episode.

They already had a contestant leaving with nothing :
Also, if I recall correctly, it airs LIVE, or with a very short delay between the taping and the broadcast every evening : would make sense that they can't edit the show that much. They do talk a lot and they're airing so much commercials it's nearly painful. Nearly after every question they're taking a 4-5 minutes break.
I wouldn't be surprised to see a contestant taking 3 nights to complete his game.
IMO, Italian TV is a real disaster.

ljouvin, yes, right. there were several contestants who went away with nothing. it happens not so often but it is. The show not airs LIVE but with a short delay between the recording in studio. The commercial breaks goes in exactly time each day. There is a screen in studio which inform the countdown untill the new break. And as you have said, there were a lot of contestans who played 3 nights in a row. It's normally for italian tv.

Hi, i'm an Italian boy. The only safe is not the only change. Now the questions are harder by the first. It's a very bad change!!!

That's not good drago... you're right about it. wwbm, I've always been wondering me since I saw their 2004 win : It seems like the question was asked on day 1/2... and answered the day after. Was this last part of Q15 taped just after that "day 1/2 show" or was this really taped like hours after? Because if he had the time to go and check the answer on google...

dragoman, Yeah, the first question which is about the Chinese traffic jam - it's stupid, i think.
ljouvin. Before 2005 or 2006 if the final siren sounds during the thinking, the contestant had 30 seconds choice whether to play or to walk away home. But they could 'pause' their thinking on one of the questions and cut to commercials. If they chose to do so, a woman would take the contesant off the set, and, when the commercials ended, take the player back.

wwbm you said correctly. The contestant could go into the "Stanza Oscura" (The Dark Room). They used that rules when "Chi vuol essere milionario?" was aired only on Sunday in prime time.
