Favorite: Original format. It was simple, dramatic, and fantastic. It doesn't get any better than the classic format for Millionaire.
Least favorite: Clock format. It just ticked me off so much. The fact that you had fifteen seconds to answer the first five questions was completely unfair, and the fact that you had forty-five to answer 11-14 was unfair as well. There were a lot of times that I think contestants would have been better off having more time to think about their answer, while not taking super-long like the classic format. And anyway, I simply didn't find the clock exciting, only frustrating.
I mean, let's time this out. Fifteen seconds for the first five. Thirty for the second tier. Forty-five for questions 11-14. That's a total of 6 minutes, 45 seconds for fourteen questions. Take out let's say 5 seconds to read the answers each time and you're left with 5 minutes, 35 seconds to answer anything from brain-numbingly simple to brain-rackingly hard. And, please, the Millionaire Menu doesn't give a whole lot of help. It was a pointless addition in my opinion (although it is useful in the Shuffle format, as it shows which questions are hard or easy at the beginning).
While I liked that more contestants got into the hot seat, the clock overall was simply too unfair. No time limit is the way to go; you can fire answers out, or take a minute or two to think (something you wouldn't be able to do until the million dollar question in the Clock format). With contestants standing, the Shuffle format's got the timing down perfectly - we're getting a good number of questions for a half-hour, but nobody is being rushed either.
And that's my Rant of the Day©.

And for the Shuffle format--I don't like the fact the contestants have to stand, a la H2 (Hollywood Squares' final 2 seasons).
I always say that contestants standing for 30 minutes or even an hour will probably get tired. Of course, some will think of that as ridiculous.

Anyway, for the Millionaire Menu--it's just like any categorized Q&A; i.e. Jeopardy!, Win Ben Stein's Money, The Joker's Wild, Tic-Tac-Dough, and another of Michael Davies' creations, ESPN's 2-Minute Drill (which provides the same clock sound as the Phone-a-Friend lifeline on Millionaire): once you see the categories, you'll get an idea of what questions you get (unfortunately, unlike the other shows I mentioned, you don't get to choose what Millionaire questions you'll get asked).
So as long as you know the categories, you'll have an idea of what you're up against.

Oh, I did forget to mention one positive for the Clock format: its soundtrack kicked major butt.

Oh, I did forget to mention one positive for the Clock format: its soundtrack kicked major butt. And IIRC, The 15-second music (aka First Five) was used in the February '04 episodes of Super Millionaire. May '04's shows used a jazzier type.

My favorite is both the shuffle format and original. Least favorite is the clocked format rushed too many wrongs answers and forced some losses that felt unfair.

What was great though, with the clock format was its graphics. LOVED THEM! I think the use of the clock graphics without the clock is perfect... ;D

My Favourite Formats are Original and Clock Format. My least favourite format is shuffle because there are now 14 questions instead of the usual 15

I'd have to say my favorite is the original. The graphics, the music, oh that music!!! I LOVE the music!!!
Least favorite is Shuffle. For one thing, almost no variety in the lifelines - 2 of the same lifeline particularly ticked me off. And then the music - it's OK, but it does absolutely no justice to the original. The format especially - they call that Millionaire?! Other than the fact that the questions are multiple choice and the top prize is a million dollars, that's not Millionaire, that's a completely different game, period!

Is it worth bumping this thread again? I personally think it's a great discussion, although everyone seems to have participated already...
I absolutely despise the shuffle format of the show; it reduces a lot of the implied tension that the original game has because the difficulty is randomized, and the cash values are too. I'm sure a ton of you guys love the rewarding feeling you get when you answer question 11 (or higher). Yeah, "classic millionaire" gives you questions 11 through 14 with ascending cash values/difficulty, which are incredibly tense, but the difficulty variance is too wild to really enjoy (at least for me). The feeling where you get past the first five easy questions and the game ramps up is awesome, and making it to the third level of play is just amazing.
With that being said, I really like the clock version of the game. It takes that tension and adds a speed factor to make things nothing short of terrifying, especially when you have a question where you just can't piece everything together (Jehan Shamsid-Deen's $500,000 question is a great example of this). I will agree with previous points about the clock format being a bit TOO fast paced in the upper level; if I had the opportunity, I'd make the third-tier questions start at 45 seconds, increasing 15 seconds every question (a minute and 45 seconds for the 500k is very reasonable for a timed game), and double the time after that for the million, plus the banked time.
I also like the enhancements to the music that were done, particularly at the $50,000 question and higher. Just before the time runs out, you hear a subtle horn that just conveys that feeling of hopelessness when you get down to that little bit of time remaining... so good.
(babbling, I'll stop now!)

I think I would like the Clock & Shuffle Format and Dislike the Normal Format. Clock Format: The Clock makes the show more exaggerating and it makes the contestant just like in a panic state because of the answers. Shuffle Format: The Shuffle of the money and the questions is great and too bad it no longer sitting down to answer the questions. Dislike Normal Format: The Normal Format is just taking too long for a contestant to answer the questions.
