Hello everyone!
I have opened this thread because I would like to know what your favorite, or least favorite, Millionaire format is (Classic, clock, shuffle, etc).
Personally, my favorite is the clock, because in my opinion, it speeds the game up so the contestant doesn't have to tell his/her life story before he/she gives an answer. Plus it makes the game more exciting!
I don't have a least favorite, but I don't look on the Hot Seat format very well, mostly because of the cheesy elevator music (doesn't really fit Millionaire in my opinion).
But that's me personally, what do you think?

I like the clock format but it's a toss up between that and shuffle.
The two complaints I have with the shuffle format is the absence of the hot seat but also the fact that there's only one safe haven so to speak. I think it's awful when you get up to the last question before classic Millionaire, you miss it, and you leave with only $1,000. It makes the risks too great for you not to go for it. Now a lot of people might say that in the classic format that your first safe haven was $1,000. That might be true but the fact that you answer nine questions right, which range in difficulty, it's kind of a slap in the face to then just go home with $1,000. I think it needs a safe haven in the middle of round 1. Even if it meant cutting your bank in half if you missed in part 2 of round 1, it's still better than $1,000 and would encourage more people to go on further.
As for the clock format, I think 15 seconds should've been added to each clock so it's still timed but you have a little bit more time to think about your replies or you'll have a little bit of time to talk it out. Sometimes it helps to talk out the question. So that's pretty much my only complaint with the clock format. They're both good but I'm starting to lean towards the shuffle format as my favorite. I never thought I'd say that when I first started watching it. lol

My favorite is definitely the US clock format. I loved the dramatic music and the clock graphics. I agree with !Tommy on the time limits, though. Adding another 15 or 30 seconds would be better. I'm also a fan of the shuffle format. I'm still grieving for the hotseat, but the idea and the music are fantastic! Again just like !Tommy, I didn't think I'd like it, but I was definitely proven wrong. The formats I least like are hotseat and risk. Hotseat feels strange for me, i dunno. I rly like Eddie McGuire as the host, but I simply don't like the format (and the music) very much. My problem with the risk format is that the chances that somebody goes for the million at the risk of falling back to the first save haven, are anything but high. If you take the last German millionaire winner, for example. He didn't choose the fourth lifeline and won the million. He said that dropping down from €500,000 to €16,000 would be okay for him. However, losing €495,500 would make him feel like a fool. Most people who choose the fourth lifeline think about it the same way, i guess. Classic millionaire is the mother of all other formats, so it's unrivaled for me anyway .

It will be the Clock Format. The music is more dramatic, the effects are so 3D and awesome and it defines Millionaire.
If they're are going to keep the 15 seconds on the first 5 questions, then the questions must be A LOT easier. Then they can amp up the difficulty on the 30 second questions and the 45 second questions along with the Million Dollar Question.

Definately Clock Format. The mixture of the clock, the expert, and the music/graphics just made for the perfect blend of Millionaire gameplay.

My favorite, as I've said before, is the Clock. The clock had the amazing blend of rushing you while still somehow managing to keep the tension. The lifelines were by far at their best during the clock format, even after Phone-A-Friend's removal.
My least favorite is a toss-up between Shuffle and Hot Seat. Hot Seat and Shuffle don't have very fitting music, except maybe Shuffle's round 1. I do love Shuffle's music, but it just doesn't fit for the positions they are in. Round 3 of Classic and Clock, in my oppinion, seemed discouraging to go for it. Yet, the shuffle's round 2 music, appears to encourage the contestant. That's not good. I don't like the multiple player aspect of Hot Seat. It just seems out of place. Also, the lifelines were extremely bland in both of those.

Beneys2, that is 3 posts in a row. I know your mentality behind those 3 posts and therefore, your 20 "posts" are not technically 20 posts. You MUST contribute more.

Terribly sorry dwibs, you've kinda had your thread hijacked by this beneys2 guy we're dealing with. Just try to continue on with the conversation, I guess. Feel free to PM me or any other staff member with any questions/concerns as well As far as my preferred Millionaire formats, I'd have to say that the Shuffle format's really grown on me in the past few months, and has become my favorite. But calling one of the other formats my "least favorite" would be improper, because there's no bad format IMO. Its a great game show all around.

Let's try to re-amp this post. I do like your post Conuraptor because of the music. We never did have it any other way however, in the original classic (primetime) format. You could never deny the original music, I liked it. The new shuffle music is interesting, but it seems as if there's no depth to it. Maybe because it doesn't seem as dramatic as classic and clock music.

Original format as my top favorite...Clock and Shuffle tie for least favorite (though the clock format did give us a thrill when Ken Basin went for the million and lost).
Shuffle's confusing...and Clock means we have to deal with contestants who answer a "First Five" question very quickly, only to get it wrong (case in point, Lovi Yu).

Favourite:Tie between Original and Clock. Clock format: It ensures not only the studio audience but the television audience that a decision will be made within the time limit. However, I dislike the fact that the time limits are too little and believe that the limits should be increased. My proposal: Dimension 1 (Q1-5) 1 minute. Dimension 2 (Q6-10) 3 minutes. Dimension 3 (Q11-14) 5 minutes. Million: 10 minutes. Add this up and you get 50 minutes, enough for commercial timeouts and enough to fit within an hour. Original: the original soundtrack unaltered is FA-NOMINAL. It's probably the most suspenseful format. Plus, it's the version of the show many of us grew up watching. The only problem is the fact that contestants could take too long to answer. Apparently, Joe Trela's $1,000,000 question (not sure if this is true) took him 20 minutes to answer. Imagine being Regis and just sitting there for 1/3 of an hour without a decision.
Least: Shuffle. First off, I dislike the new podium. Secondly, I hate the fact that there are now 14 questions instead of the usual 15. Mostly, it's because of the shuffled amounts that tick me off. If you stumble upon a difficult question and kill a lifeline for it only to know you only received $100, I would be enraged. I say to divide the shuffle ladder in two parts. The first part will be the easiest questions and have the least amount of money. The second half will have questions a little bit more difficult but with higher stakes. This would make the game more fair for the contestant.
