Hi Guys,
So watching today's show, I can't help but think this has to be a new record possibly? The contestant was asked the following question:
What does the "M" stand for in "RMS Titanic," the full name of the historic ship that sank in 1912?
The contestant asked the audience which produced the following results:
A: Military [5%] B: Monarch [91%] C: Mail [2%] D: Medical [2%]
Obviously, he went with Monarch. ..The answer was Mail. I think it's pretty safe to assume that this is the biggest audience fail percentage wise?

I thought that would be the highlight of the show but I was wrong.. The contestants following the first guy were just so sub-par. The second contestant was asked something along the lines of: "Which of these has been recently proven by the American Cancer Society to be safe when re-used?" With the options being a band-aid (o.o), a tissue (o.O), a hypodermic needle (O.O) or a plastic water bottle. What's more is the guy actually had to think it over for a good amount of time and ask the audience. Then we get boy-wonder afterwards with the question: "Norwegian athlete Axel Paulsen lends his name to a type of maneuver in what sport?" A: Curling B: Wrestling C: Figure Skating D: Gymnastics Guy spends a good amount of time pondering it then eventually decides to jump it, claiming "these first questions can be really hard." Even Meredith said "you're going to kick yourself" before the answer was revealed (Figure Skating.. Axel.. Figure Skating.. -.-) Anyway, just me venting. Plenty of video-worthy moments here but we have so many school closings here today that the screen is just cluttered with scrolling marquees and it just wouldn't do for youtube

Yeah, today's show was frustrating. I knew the Titanic answer, too, and I was stunned when the audience missed it by such a large margin. I do think that might be a record for biggest incorrect ATA answer in the history of the show.

Never I have seen such a big 91% epic fail in my entire life! The audience must have hated that contestant!

I've never seen only 2% of the audience vote on the correct answer.

Yep I also saw this. I knew the answer when the question came up, so when the audience poll came up and 91% said Monarch my jaw dropped. I think it came from HMS meaning "Her Majesty's Ship", so they thought Majesty didn't come up and said the related term which was Monarch. Shame too. If I didn't know a question and an audience came up with a percentage like that, I'd make it my final answer without hesitation.

I've never seen only 2% of the audience vote on the correct answer. Just think how that 2% of the audience felt when the poll results came up. They probably wanted to scream out to the contestant.

Ask the Audience isn't my favorite lifeline anymore because it seems like every season the audience gets more and more indecisive/wrong. If I was on the show, I'd give the audience a full lecture before I used the lifeline. I'd be like "Rules! 1. No guessing. 2. No guessing. 3 NO GUESSING, IF YOU DON'T KNOW IT, DON'T ANSWER!"

Mathematically, that is only 4 people voted for the correct answer.

Mathematically, that is only 4 people voted for the correct answer. Assuming it was a full house. Apparently they often have trouble filling all the seats in the audience. Clever camera work and lighting covers it up, but it's blatantly obvious on some shows. Seeing a gap between audience members, the top row or two entirely empty, and in some instances when you get the odd camera angle of a shot that you wouldn't normally see in a standard show, there's a huge gap of empty seats. wtb more ppl in the audience!

That's pretty extreme. Here in Germany, you have to wait 20 months to even get tickets for ONE show.

Awww! I missed this episode. I think my jaw would've dropped seeing this happen. I hate to admit that I wouldn't have known the answer to this question but I knew the answer to yesterday's if you had $16, what president wouldn't you have in your hand. Before he even said final answer, I knew he was going to get it wrong and I'm just yelling the right answer at him. Apparently he didn't listen too good though. XD
