Well then, Dragonman 2455 has decided to Play for the minimum bet of $40,000. And here is his question! *medium amount question theme plays* And, as per usual, you have 15 seconds to lock in an answer here. Your time starts now. *the clock starts, the lights in the studio cycling on and off in rhythm to the ticking*

I don’t know anything about this stuff. I’ll just have to take a guess. I’m going for Crow.

*time up buzzer plays* Your time is up. Let's see what you chose to lock in. You went for the Crow. Are you happy with that answer? Dragonman: I don’t know anything about this stuff. I just had to take a guess. Uh-oh. Let's hope that this works out for you! The correct answer is...: *medium amount incorrect sting plays as studio lights flash in red* Ouch. Too bad; the correct answer is Raven. Yes, a flock of ravens has historically been referred to as "an unkindness of ravens". A gathering of crows, instead, is called "a murder of crows"; one of vultures is called "a committee of vultures", and one of eagles is called "a convocation of eagles". It's an amusing quirk of the English language, but unfortunately and evidently, not one that everyone is aware of. Tough break. Unfortunately, that means you've lost $40,000. We will remove that money from the prize pool. As such, after four questions, our prize pool is back to $100,000. Let's hope the trend goes back to upwards! *audience applauds in solidarity* Now, last to play in this cycle is futuregshost. Welcome to the show! Excited to be here? What do you think of the way events have unfolded here so far? Are you eager to push that prize pool back up?

Yes, I'm very excited to play today! So far, it's been pretty up and down this game, but we'll see how things get on as the game continues. Plus, the questions are getting harder and the minimum is raising, so I don't exactly know what I'm really going to do next.
Post -------------------- Just wondering because this is a possibility; what happens if the amount in the pool is less than the minimum bet? -------------------- End

That is definitely a bit of a dilemma that you're finding yourself in! I know the situation is tough and only getting tougher - but there's not a lot of time left to make your decision! In fact, I'm going to ask you right now - will you Play, or will you Betray? Post ------------------ In case the prize pool drops below the minimum bet, you'll be forced to play the question betting everything currently available in the prize pool. If you're correct, the pool is doubled (regardless of how high the minimum bet itself is - if the pool holds $40,000, but the minimum bet is $60,000, a correct answer will bring the pool to $80,000, not $100,000); if you're incorrect, it's dropped to its minimum of $10,000. The prize pool can not drop below $10,000 under any circumstance. ------------------ End

Well, I still think it’s too early to betray because it’s just the first round. The pot was at what, $180,000 before? I’ll be risky and play with $65,000.

Post --------- I fully intend to continue with the game. I'm sorry for the extended delay. It's been a busy few days after I recovered from the flu, and have been dealing with a difficult client on my job. This is absolutely, 100% going to continue. I can't yet say when exactly, but keep an eye on this thread.
By the latest, it'll be Friday, since that's the day my two-week vacation starts.
Sorry again, guys. --------- End

*theme music plays as the studio lights flash and the audience applauds* *camera zooms in on me* And welcome back to Backstab! Now, before our break, our contestant futuregshost has decided to Play for the large amount of $65,000! Was this the right choice, or the dreadfully wrong one? Let's find out - and take a look at the question. *large amount question theme plays as the studio lights dim the set in a dark blue hue* futuregshost , you have 15 seconds to answer your question - and your time starts now. *the clock starts, the lights in the studio cycling on and off in rhythm to the ticking*

...whaaat. Okay, Galão is in Portuguese, and I don't think they'd do that in Portugal or Brazil. Mazagran sounds like it's from some romance language, so that's probably out. Yuenyeun sounds kind of Asian, and Kopi Luwak sounds Indian or Middle Eastern? I think they grow more coffee in that region, plus cats might be a little more sacred there, so my best guess is Kopi Luwak.

*time up buzzer plays* And there goes your time. Let's see what you've went for. *answer lock sting plays* You've locked in Kopi Luwak. Any reason why that stood out to you? futuregshost: Okay, Galão is in Portuguese, and I don't think they'd do that in Portugal or Brazil. Impressive reasoning! Let's see whether it works out for you. The correct answer is...: *large amount correct sting plays as studio lights flash and swivel in green and the audience applauds raucously* It absolutely does! It's Kopi Luwak indeed! And, it isn't enough that this kind of methodology seems to be an actual thing that people willingly purchase - they pay a pretty hefty price for it too: Kopi Luwak is widely recognized as the most expensive coffee in the world. It's a strange world we live in sometimes. Then again, don't knock it 'till you've tried it, huh? *laughs from the audience* Either way, your deductive skills have brought the prize pool right back up to a sweet $165,000. Good going! *cheers from the audience* Right then! That concludes our first cycle through the studio. Every player has now answered at least one question - and in the span of five turns, we've brought the prize pool up from $120,000 to a respectable $165,000. There was a lot of money on the table, though - had we not had any incorrect answers this round, that number could've been a staggering $305,000! Certainly a nice little bit of pocket change - and perhaps worth drawing a dagger for? We haven't had any betrayals just yet, but that minimum bet keeps rising and rising, and the questions are getting more difficult with every turn - who will buckle first? Who will go in for the Backstab? Let's find out, as we begin Cycle 2. *the let's play theme plays as the audience applauds* Now then, you're up, @nhoxxinh! Would you have known those questions we've seen so far? And - just out of curiosity - would you ever consider drinking coffee that a cat apparently pooped out? *chuckles from the audience*
