Gotta say the new logo looks a hell of a lot better when it's animated.

My God, these tapings were absolutely amazing in so many ways. I think it'll be best to summarize this in bullets, so here we go. - First off, put to rest any fears you guys might have about the new logo and graphics and all of that. They are very sleek and modern and exactly what the show needed after all these years.
- No photos or videos during taping, so I'll try to recreate them as best as I can using the exact same fonts that the show uses at least on its main video screens. We didn't see on screen graphics that well so I can't say if they look different on there. Look for these graphics in a separate post at a later date.
- The little bit of on screen graphics we did see indicates that the lifelines are always visible now.
- The logo does this ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL AURORA BOREALIS-STYLE FLARE whenever it appears on screen and it looks incredible. I can't wait for you guys to see it on TV in September.
- Despite the new graphics package, the floor logo and host screens still use the old graphics. Gift shirts, hats, and mugs also use the old logo.
- This is a very good photo of the flare in action. It looks way better in motion. I still have to go through all of the longer videos I recorded; if I find one with the flare, I'll crop and upload it separate.
- There are all-new lighting sequences for each round, for the lifelines, and a slightly difference sequence for normal lighting. There is a brand new opening lighting sequence and it looks incredible. Tier 1 has blue stairs and teal columns. Tier 2 has pink-purple columns and purple stairs. We didn't see anyone get to Tier 3. The bottom neon circling the plexiglass floor and the center podium has been upgraded and is now capable of producing colors other than shades of blue. This is extremely apparent during the new opening sequence. In fact, I think all of the lighting in the set was upgraded. It's a lot more vibrant overall, as you can see in that photo.
- The background on both screens changes depending on the tier currently in play. Tier 1's background is blue. Tier 2's is purple. Again, we didn't see anyone get to Tier 3.
- Audience lighting during gameplay is very dark, just like it should be.
- We were dubbed the Millionaire Superfans from pretty early on and got what amounted to VIP treatment from the production crew.
- Chris Harrison came to chat with us in the audience. We asked for a group photo with him, and he brought us down to the front of the set. (Left to right: Reidb1700, @divvy, Chris Harrison, millionairefan1, and me)
- We sat through about seven individual shows and two celebrity shows. I can't tell you who the celebrities are yet, but we all got to shake their hands and speak to them, which was awesome.
- The Nyan Cat was on screen. Don't ask me to explain it.
- There's a new cold open. Chris now has the large screen behind him. The lighting is also different, but not by much.
- The Super Millionaire logo appeared on screen. The production staff did not acknowledge the logo, and it went away pretty quickly. Reid and Divvy think it's a screensaver. Take this with a grain of salt until we hear otherwise.
- During the second taping, one of the floor spotlights burned out and had to be replaced. This is how we found out that the plexiglass floor is in small sections, not large ones.
- During the first taping, only six people passed the test. During the second, only two. @divvy was one of them!
MORE MEDIA Ask me anything. I'll try to answer whatever I can. Here's what I can't talk about: - Individual contestants and their progress
- Celebrity contestants and their progress
- Any "theme" weeks we witnessed or saw graphics for
- Anything that can be used to determine the outcome of any game
- Anything about the audition process including the test
- Anything that can be used to determine any moment during a game

How was the question difficulty? Was it easier/harder compared to previous seasons?

How was the question difficulty? Was it easier/harder compared to previous seasons? I'd say the questions were noticeably more difficult than previous seasons. I can't talk about specific players, but out of all of them, we didn't see anyone even get to the $50,000 question.

GSK...should you tell them about the audition process and the results? I didn't go into specifics, and didn't mention anything about the test itself, so I think it'll be alright. In any case, though, I'll clarify what we can't talk about in the original post.

I honestly really like the new graphics package. It brings a nice modern look to a 17 (almost 19, if you count Primetime, of course). I really do hope this helps out the show, and I REALLY hope that we get a 20th Anniversary Primetime special, just like we did for the 10th Anniversary in 2009. They've at least got the resources (covered up, obviously), and now I hope they use them.

Great set report, GSK! Sounds like the show is getting a much needed facelift! The aurora effect on the logo reminds me a bit of the effect that ABC used on their promotional dark purple logo for the 10th Anniversary Celebration. Any new music cues? I know a lot of sounds are added in post-production now, but did any new tracks stick out to you?

No new tracks stuck out to me. Recreated graphics based on what we saw in studio: imgur.com/a/ZnZeyMOThese remakes aren't exactly the same but they are very very close. All of the fonts are nearly or exactly the same as they were in studio.Question and answer text is Arial, most likely Arial Narrow. The A:, B:, C:, and D: are Eurostile. The lifeline text is Museo Sans. The "WHO WANTS TO BE A" in the logo is Helvetica Neue (extended). The "MILLIONAIRE" in the logo is Museo Sans 900. The "AUDIENCE CONTESTANT" text is Futura.

I have to say I am not a fan of the graphics at all. They look like something everyone can throw together with 20 minutes in Photoshop and a bit of bezel. They just look "cheap".
When one is able to create a 100% accurate representation of on-screen graphics by spending half an hour in powerpoint, something doesn't feel right.

They look significantly better when in motion on the set (and presumably on screen).

Hmm, I shall be cautiously non-pessimistic until we can make a picture for ourselves then. The lighting changes, at least, sound really good. Though I'm not fond of the fact that the questions have apparently gotten even more difficult than they already are. At this rate, I don't see much of a chance for a winner anytime soon (and it's been shockingly long already since we've even seen an MDQ).

The designs aren’t bad at all, but they are lacking in WWTBAM character... but the modern era of the show is also lacking in that regard in many ways, so in that sense they fit well. As with all all of the changes, I will be cautiously optimistic and wait until I see the finished product before passing judgment.
