Hi All! It's the most wonderful time of the year, Millionaire is going back into production NEXT WEEK!! YAY! Now, here is the question that is driving me crazy. Since this season will be airing over the course of 2018-2019 do we think we may see a return of the Hot Seat this year? I ask because it will indeed run up until the 20th anniversary of the US show. Additionally when I appeared on the show last year I spent a lot of time backstage and I can confirm that there are several brand new Hot Seat chairs wrapped in plastic hanging around, and the old fastest finger and hot seat consoles are indeed in wooden crates stacked behind Chris' dressing room. On top of all of that minor set changes and lighting tests were occurring over the course of the tapings last season (I went to about 30 episodes worth), including the old scaffolding lighting hung above the existing set. I figure someone here probably has heard a bit more stirrings than I and I am curious as to what you may have heard. Also anyone going to a taping soon? I am going in a couple of weeks, so I will definitely know more then, was just hoping to see what to expect before then.  |

Millionaire didn't begin here until 1999 over here in the US. While the 10th anniversary was celebrated in 2008 in the UK, ours didn't happen until 2009.
Odds are, probably wait until next year for that to happen.

I had a feeling, I think I am just overly excited. I just thought since the season will be airing well into 2019 we may get a 20th special or some changes closer back to the original format. I suppose it might make more sense that it would be next year though since taping next year will be active during the 20th anniversary date. I'm like a kid in a candy store. I just can't wait!

We will need to keep an eye out for taping reports and official rule changes on the show’s website to see if there are any format updates this year. I’m not expecting any, but we’ll see.
I will continue to hold out hope for the return of the classic music cues, but I just don’t see that happening due to the licensing cost.

I will be attending two separate tapings on July 16 with Reidb1700, @divvy, and millionairefan1. I'll report back in if there are any changes to expect. I did notice that there's a completely different logo in use on the On-Camera Audiences page for the show. I don't know if this means anything, but we'll see.  --- This was the logo in use previous years on the page:  |

That new logo is crappy and I hate it. I will be sorely disappointed if it's the new official logo. I did hear somewhere that pretty much the entire production staff is new this year (though I have no idea where I heard that from, if it was on these forums or elsewhere). |

I’m hoping that’s a temporary logo or one cooked up by the casting folks. Their failure to center the “O” makes it look like a bad fan attempt. We have so many members here who could do better!
The only bright side if that’s a legit logo is that it’s probably indicative of a graphics refresh, likely by a new company.

Here's a video I recorded from his Instagram story: streamable.com/23daiMy opinions and notes: - I've identified the "MILLIONAIRE" portion as being set in Museo Sans Display Black with approximately 95% confidence. - The O being off center in the static logo is definitely sloppy, but it probably rotates around the center like the previous logo did, which would explain the O's position.
- The starfield graphics are actually pretty nice.
- I kinda like the logo as applied in the video. It's a nice modernization of the design without straying too far away from its heritage.
- The "WHO WANTS TO BE A" text is definitely not Copperplate Gothic.
I suspect it may be Media Gothic. I'll try to get closer photos and videos of it next Monday when I see tapings. This isn't Media Gothic. It may be an extended form of Helvetica Neue. Edit 7/11: I have 95% confidence that this is Helvetica Neue LT Pro 63 MdEx - At first glance, I hate the new money tree graphics. Slant shape graphics with a bevel are so 90s. I hope there's something missing here that I'm not seeing.
- I do not have good feelings about the on screen graphics.
- The idle animation on the big widescreen is actually really awesome, in my opinion.

I really hope they don't mess around too much with the graphics. The money tree looks like it came from the U.S. version of Divided, which does *not* sit well with me. Although we have needed a bit of a refresh for a while now, it shouldn't be THAT drastic.
