I just got this game. There are pros and cons to the game, in my opinion.
Pros
- The set design and logos are really cool, and faithful to real life. The intro graphic for the U.K. is practically identical to the show in real life, something I appreciate.
- I’m more of a fan of the original Strachan track, and while I think the original serves it for this game, I don’t mind the rave music so much for this.
- Lots of questions means lots of learning. I learned stuff I had no idea about, and this game had been a good test of knowledge that I have accumulated.
- The ability to get to choose different versions is really cool. The UK, for example, has different questions and graphics than the U.S. does.
Cons
- The character models can be quite limited, or not a large set to choose from. They’re exactly the same if you go for another version.
- While there are many questions, and many difficult, I’m already starting to see repeat questions, even though I first played this game yesterday.
- A lot of it can be misleading. Phone A Friends are often wrong on the higher questions, and the audience can often be wrong, despite high poll results.
- I notice some misspellings as well.
From what I’ve seen, this is a solid game. If you’re a Millionaire buff, a trivia fan, definitely pick this up, despite not being a perfect game. If you’re more of a casual gamer, I’m not sure this is the game for you.
Also, I absolutely hate how they don’t reveal the correct answer if you walk. Seriously?
Edit: I have found some more major flaws within this game.
A question asked me what show Ryan Seacreast is known for hosting. It told me American Idol was wrong and it was America’s Got Talent.
Another question I got asked Lady Jane Grey was queen for nine days after the death of which king? Okay, fair question, except that Mary and Elizabeth were two of the options.
One question for $125,000 asked about the Christmas song of Grandma getting run over by a what? Another, get this, for $500,000, asked what the capital is of Connecticut. Seriously? The 14th question in America asks what the capital is of a state? I can see asking this in another country where American geography is not that well known. Those are two first five questions right there, not six figure amounts.
This game is flawed. You learn a lot, but it’s not grounded in reality.
