FOX hasn't bought Super Millionaire. ABC does have the rights to Millionaire, but they lose the exclusive rights to the format in the US in Spring 2007 if they don't air some form of Millionaire on the network by that time. If they don't air Millionaire by that time, the rights could go to another network if another network offers more money. I think that if the rights were to change hands, you'd definitely see the show back in primetime, but in what form, I could not guess. I think that Super Millionaire could work well as a once or twice weekly show, but I don't see that happening. We'll be lucky to see it back at all anytime soon. I hope we see it later this year - be sure to contact ABC and let them know you want to see it back.

That makes me a little nervous steven. If nobody buys the show after Spring 2007, does that mean we lose the syndicated version as well? I hope the show continues for a good, long time.

I don't know how the syndicated version works. Where I lived, the syndicated version of Weakest Link played on ABC, while the primetime version was on NBC. I don't know if syndicated shows are governed by the same rules as primetime shows.
As for spring 2007, I believe the date is May this year, according to GameShowNewsNet. ABC had better get hopping on Super Millionaire, because I bet you anything, with Fox using Regis on New Year, that they are ready to buy Millionaire.

I'm pretty sure that the contract does not affect the syndicated show, only the primetime network show. Agreed, FOX looks like the candidate who would gain the most by getting "Millionaire", but we'll have to wait and see if they want to start a bidding war with ABC.

Uh HELLO...earth to ABC? we need something new with these game shows with a GINORMOUS (spelling?) cash prize. $1 million to us is probably starting to get too old since the show's debut in '99. But now, Wheel of Fortune, Deal or No Deal, Minute to Win It, Million-Dollar Password and other game shows are copying the million-dollar top prize. It just sounds not enough. If ABC somehow REPLACES the original version of the show, the game board would be more than just 15 questions, and...the set should have more lights, more lifelines, more audience, and more chances of walking out with a Capital-One check for 10..million..dollars! Not only will this make American contestants richer and happier, but, from my view, ratings and # of viewers will SKYROCKET...maybe even top American Idol & CSI. Seriously, this 10-night event back in 04 was amazing. Add the clock to this new show, and you've got yourself one heck of a game show.

I never thought about it, but adding the clock to Super Millionaire would really make it exciting. It would probably work better than it did with the regular primetime show, since the pressure is already so much higher because of the astronomical jackpot.

Indeed. Just adding more lights, more audience, more questions, more time, and more money would most likely make WWTBAM America's game.....sorry Wheel of Fortune. If i was in the hot seat for THIS version of Super Millionaire, my heart would be pounding way louder than the BGM! XD

I respectfully disagree. I think Super Millionaire would work better as an annual or biannual primetime event like the 10th anniversary special; it would boost the ratings immensely. If it were a regular series, I think people would eventually get over the "OMG TEN MILLION DOLLARS" thing. Although, this could be countered (or at least slowed) by putting it once a week, which is where ABC messed up with the original primetime series of Millionaire.
I also disagree about putting in a clock. Although it does put more contestants in the seat, I preferred the show without a clock. I also think the clock gets in the way of suspense when questions are for a higher amount of money - in this version, everything question 8 and above would be big on the normal daytime show.

I agree and disagree with Ryanz. The show should at most be put on weekly, but annualy or bi-annually would work much better. The clock though, I think could be added. The only time that I would change is the Tier 3 question times. I would make it 1 minute.
And MSURocks, mine would too!

Same thing here. Viewers would get used to the $10million jackpot if it was a show aired daily. But it would definately work if it aired every week annually....like Saturday Night Live.

Wouldn't it be great if they could do a jackpot series on Millionaire? Every time a contestant doesn't make it to the million, the jackpot is raised, starting at $1,000,000 and going all the way to $10,000,000! Using the same format as Super Millionaire, this could be very interesting, kinda like the way the tiny jackpot on Lingo rises every time they don't get it on the first pull. Just a thought, though.

They did that originally in 2000 or so. They added, I believe, $10,000 to the $1 Million Question until someone won. The Jackpot total on the 15th question was a staggering $2,180,000
This is how the ladder was based on.
... $125,000 $250,000 $500,000 $2,180,000
Anyway, Kevin Olmstead won that $2,180,000 prize. I'll agree with the once a week format for Super Millionaire with the clock would really be something. Of course using the season 7/8 format would also be cool.
