theomorton: Hi Matt, I was reading your post and I understand you have access to a question database? I'm working on a personal hobby project and was looking for a DB of questions. Can you help? Thanks ahead!

probium: Sound design of Arkadium Millionaire is flawed. Once I get the final question wrong, I get treated to the $32,000 lose cue, NOT the $1 Million lose cue.

FrankT: Good grief, nobody told me they revived Wheel of Fortune in the UK. Looks like I have something else to watch now!

probium: For some reason when I click on a lifeline I already used, it freezes. Also the sound design is flawed, with the normal question wrong theme playing in place of the early question wrong theme.

On the first picture, original graphics are clearly visible on the contestant's screen,so that means that thery still have the official software, so why are they using those bland, dull and fully generic graphics on the broadcasting? If they are not allowed to use them due to copyright, how are they still allowed to use the original soundtracks?Soundtrack isn't protected by copyright too?And about the new host I don't think that fits with the format. Why did they choose a female host. The host also isn't even dressed properly. The suit color is too bright and it doesn't match at all with the dark colors of the set.
There's one fact that I believe that not everyone here knows: SONY really doesn't care what format it is (even graphics, soundtrack, even lifelines) is not SONY's problem. What they are interested in is how the software works and whether or not the program works almost like the original, as well as the program that only plays in the country where the copyright is purchased. Without that, WWTBAM would have been an absolute mold version without all the diversity (graphics, soundtrack, studio, rules, lifelines,...) as it is now. About the new host? I don't know what the problem is that you don't want a girl sitting in the host's chair. Meredith Vieira was very successful and so were some other female hosts. You might want a host like the generation of potential people who did, but I think it's a pretty good change where programs now need more entertainment rather than focus on the player's progress as before (and that's why many WWTBAM players these days may not be able to get to further questions, but the entertainment value is greater than the old players).
What I don't understand is why they kept some components of the original copyrighted material such as the soundtrack, the set and the title but they changed others like the graphics and the logos. If they were afraid to use the original graphics for the case they got "chased" by Sony for copyright infringements ,how weren't they afraid to use the original soundtrack for the same reason? I mean that Sony has no problem with unlicensed formats using the original soundtracks, they also should be ok with the original graphics being used on unllicensed formats. It doesn't make sense to partially avoid using official material. About the "entertainment" factor, what made me love this show was the drama and the tension as the players advance to higher steps of the money ladder in the early days.It what made this show unique and different from other formats.I completely dislike the fact that nowadays the show tends to be less dramatic and more entertainment-oriented.This also applies for our revival version.New host is much more playful with a light-hearted attitude and too chatty, set is way too bright and most players barely get to the 2nd safety net.I really miss Spyros Papadopoulos era with the darker set, the original plexi-glass floor without video-flooring and the original Strahan cues instead of the Covalo ones

Yeah me too I don't understand, either we license everything or we license not at all, I don't see the point of partially licensing.
Otherwise I completely agree with you, I miss the golden age of WWTBAM terribly, the era of the somewhat dark set, with an entrance composed only of a light on the bottom and a blue background, the luminous and not epileptic floor, the Strachanian music from A to Z.
I had already done this same criticism as you on the entertainment concerning Kaun Banega Crorepati
And finally the graphics of the time, you don't bother to make animations like for the rave graphics. Send you the questions, the answers and the prize to be won.
And then you don't change the light all the time (for some countries including France and the Slavic countries it was only blue).
One day the dream will come true haha

Who wants to be a millionaire died the day the rave format was created. Long live the black graphic and the Strachans.
No matter if the celebs are getting back, They definitly mix them along with regular players!
And even without understanding russian at all, the promo makes it feel quite good! Starting to get curious! Wanting to see more of this edition!
This moment make me laugh. A contestant actually asked if AtH is still there and got a "no" reply
But I feel terrible when only the classic 3 lifelines appear. At least if they can have a 4th one like Double Dip or Switch? Ask the Host is also a nice choice if there is a 4th lifeline
Celebrity and regular contestant did make this version better than most of Dibrov's era, I think.
The US Shuffle music was a one-time commission as opposed to the Strachan (and Covalo) cues for which broadcasters have to pay royalties each time they are played as the composers own the rights to the music. Legally speaking, their use might not be restricted to the Millionaire format as long as royalties are paid, as opposed to the graphic assets which are owned by the client (SEP) and not their designers. That might explain why they could keep the music and not the graphics.
As far as the title is concerned, the channel might own at least part of the trademark. For example, the trademark for the French version of Family Feud (Une Famille en Or) belongs to TF1 and not to Fremantle who owns the format (which is why it had different names on different channels: "C'est beau la vie" on La Cinq and "Family Battle" on C8). That might explain why the title hasn't been changed.
And finally, for the set, I agree with the fact that a new set was in the works before SEP halted its business operations in Russia and they just decided to carry on with what they had planned.
These are only educated guesses, but they might have just decided to do whatever they wanted with what they had. Many companies have pulled out of Russia since February 2022 and have been replaced with local copycats who do not care about intellectual property...

Are you telling us that, taking the example of Family Feud, if in France, the Canal+ channel (4th French channel) took over the WWTBAM format by buying the rights to the format, but which must change its name because the original French name belongs to the old channel (TF1), it would give for example "Qui veut devenir millionnaire?".
But in addition it was already done in Russia, in 2001 when the NTV channel had to sell (due to the general crisis of the channel) the program О, счастливчик! to ORT but they did not sell the name, the latter decided to rename Кто хочет стать миллионером?.
But the difference is that it was the same graphics, the same intro, and the same set, and the same software at the time.

It depends on who owns the trademark. In the case of Qui Veut Ganger Des Millions?, the trademark is owned by Sony Pictures Televisions UK, so they would probably keep the title if the show was licensed by another channel. Or they could decide to change it if they wanted to. For the 2001 change in Russia, the only thing they could change was the title since the rest is dictated by the format bible.
New Russian WWTBAM Intro With Classic Music + Outro
Reminds me a lot of Iran 2018

The set is very nice and its much larger, it does look like the South American sets especially Chile. The host did a good job. The show was getting boring with Dmitry and the Celebrities.
The Graphics reminds me of the Chris Harrison version i think its too blue.
