They desperately need to take this opportunity to bring drama back to the show. It's become such a chore to watch in recent years because the tone is bizarrely upbeat. Darken the set, change the music, and embrace the rising tension of the traditional money tree. Take the show back from hyperactive to intelligent.

I don't know about that, yet. I would love the idea but I'm holding out for some sort of official word that it's no longer going to be the what it has been. It's become such a chore to watch in recent years... Such a chore that I just don't watch it anymore. |

You know, I was thinking about the different names we've given each period or "era" of Millionaire. In the U.S. it's been classic, clock, shuffle. Other countries have gone to rave, or renenergised. There's been things like hot seat, etc. I wonder what name this format is going to lend itself to. It seems a lot like classic more than anything else, and it feels a bit like a "back to the roots" edition than anything else.

Unless I hear otherwise, no hot seat, the same cues staying the same next season for US BAM (thanks to Buzzerblog, and my good friend Cory Anotado). Unfortunate, but well worth the tradeoff for the far superior non-shuffle format; got my interest back.

That's all good news except for the music cues staying the same. I hope that the "Round 1" question background music is at least being retired or restricted to the first five questions.

I think what they should do is make the Round 1 music a bit faster and remove the heartbeat and make it the tier 1 background. The 2nd tier should be a major version of the current classic Millionaire background, and tier three should be rewritten into a minor version with pounding heartbeats. Not sure if that makes sense, but it's what I feel would work well.
On another note, I'm at 50 posts. Woohoo!

There are a few existing cues that are only used in celebrity spotlights and the video games that would be much more suitable as question background music than what they're currently using for Round 1.
