I guess time will tell on that. The fact that they are going away from the format that ABC devised, and getting something more resembling the format that Sony owns, maybe the two of them struck some sort of deal? Something like "We'll let you license the show for a much smaller fee, but you have to use our format" or something?

I honestly wasn't expecting this. I hope Disney continues to make good decisions about this franchise.
Bringing back the original music package (or a variation of it) would really seal the deal.
I wonder what effect, if any, Sony had on this decision.

I think that new executive producer is one of the best things that could've happened.
We can probably make a safe bet that the music will change in some way because the current track list is not nearly suitable enough for the traditional money tree.

I agree the music will need a revamp. At the very least a restructure, now that you have two milestone levels again to account for.
I highly doubt we'll see Strachan's music come back. Remember those emails that got leaked. Licensing costs have been a big deal for the show this past year. That's probably why the music changed in the first place. ABC was probably able to purchase the current soundtrack rather than license it. Probably expect something brand new next season.

One small gripe I have is the middle tier of the money tree. It seems very uninspired and makes it rather top heavy, but I guess that's what you get when you decide to make a 14 question tree

This is definitely a surprise to everyone. 50:50 comes back, new (kind of weird) money tree, gameplay changes, among other things. But, as we've seen in the past, only time will tell whether or not they're going to fix the "mistakes" that have been made over the past few years. The music definitely needs to be changed, and it wouldn't hurt to give the graphics a revamp. If they keep the same set, I honestly think they should keep the table. I just can't see the Hot Seat in the middle of the set with a couple of huge screens to the side. I guess we'll see how it all turns out!
