I think now that there is the $5,000 milestone, people may be a bit more willing to take better risks to get to the 5 figure sums. MAY be more willing.

I think now that there is the $5,000 milestone, people may be a bit more willing to take better risks to get to the 5 figure sums. MAY be more willing. We've already had a $5,000 milestone during the last year with the clock. Most people walked away in the middle tier. A Millionaire with mostly dim contestants and much too hard questions for those few who reach the higher levels of the game is not interesting, no matter the rules. UK Millionaire from 2007 onward showed that. As long as the show is on such a tight budget that there is no realistic chance for anyone to win big, it can't work.

Forgive me if I'm late to this, but...
Thank the lord
The shuffle format never really got my attention at all, even with Meredith Viera hosting the show at first. I kind of missed the suspenseful music, lighting and format from the classic primetime Millionaire. My largest worry is that they will continue to write questions that are much too hard in the higher tiers of the game. Like Gagamillionaire said, they've been doing this to avoid losing money they have on budget. But that's most game shows right now. I don't think that, with the way things are going, Millionaire will survive much longer in the daytime game show slot. But, thank god that the old format is at least coming back.

Do we have what the 50:50 being used looks like? I imagine it would look just like it has in the past...two answer spots blank...

Since you can't film during filming, you'll have to wait for the show to premiere to see that.

Well this is nice! Who Wants to be a Millionaire from the UK also had a 50,000 pound safe haven. I've always felt that $25,000 was too low. Granted, I would love to have $25,000 any day; but $50,000 sounds like a nice cut for already having answered 10 questions out of 15.
What I don't get is how contestants can still leave with $1,000 should they miss the first five questions. Kinda funny to think that you'd answer the first question correctly, earn $500. Then incorrectly answer the second question and actually gain $500 extra. It's a generous payout for just playing, I just felt that they should've started the money tree at $1,000 since that's the least you can actually leave with.
50:50's return is mixed for me. Considering that 50:50 was never much help, especially when answers that the contestant ruled out are often the ones 50:50 eliminates. But standing back and looking at the three lifelines, it's as close as it gets with the original set! 50:50, Plus One and Ask the Audience.

The $1,000 guarantee is certainly puzzling. I always felt that the $1,000 gift was a substitute for the first milestone. Now that the milestone is back, it just seems out of place.

One thing that came to mind just now is the website's claim of the questions being "in varying difficulty" rather than "increasing difficulty".
I highly doubt that they'll shuffle the questions. It just makes no sense with an increasing money tree, plus, it's unfair. It's still statistically possible for the computer to give the hardest questions as the first five, which would make it completely unfair for the contestant to even make it past the first tier. Whether or not they'll shuffle the questions, we'll have to see.
But if they do increasing difficulty again, it'll be fun to see the return of the funny D-answers, which were commonly seen on the first three questions in Primetime, and only on the first question in the Syndicated version.

I can confirm that the questions are of increasing difficulty.

Thank you. Shuffling the questions will make the show extremely unfair. You could end up having the first question as the hardest question ever.

Thank you for confirming that the questions are of increasing difficulty, kplewisvox! Do the first questions still have the joke answer for answer D?
