Exciting news for Aussie Millionaire fans, just saw a promo mentioning that next month Channel Nine will be bringing back the classic format for a limited run in prime time as ‘special event’
First time since 2007 we’ve had the classic format on our screens, so a very nice Christmas present for Aussie fans! Really hope it rates well so we get more

Won’t lie, I’m excited about this. It’s not that I don’t love Hot Seat, but I’m glad that they decided to bring Classic back, even if it’s temporary. Of course, Hot Seat will definitely be staying, because it wouldn’t make sense to get rid of it after 11 years on air. GFX-wise, they’re probably gonna be using the Olga Van Den Brandt package. Can’t wait to see it.

I was just thinking to myself how the Australian edition is the last major version to revisit the classic format. I’m excited for this and can’t wait to see it!
Great promo, by the way! Though the off-centered “O” brings back bad memories of the final year of US syndicated WWTBAM.

Though the off-centered “O” brings back bad memories of the final year of US syndicated WWTBAM. Loved the use of the Radio edit version of the theme too. As for a airdate prediction, I’m thinking it will air in place of when the Australian Open was meant to, as the tournament has been delayed.

I got tingles when I heard the original theme and ran to the TV, hope they use the original music too. So excited 😁

This is going to be very exciting indeed. And yes the theme for the Ad was indeed nice to hear In the end the question is what will they make out of it? As well as what will be the chain of events that happen after the show aired... You never know what decisions will be made if it succeeds the Hot Seat format ;-)

The ad was cool. It looked like they were using the U.S. logo, or a similar version of it.

I hope it does continue and it's not just a one off. I wonder if there'll be an audience due to Covid though? Given they've promoted it as "Special Events" could it also be a live broadcast? Hot Seat has become a little stale over the years, even with the reintroduction of FFF and the Lifelines. It's just that HS version of the theme music they need to ditch, I can't stand it 😂

Given that the US and Australian logos could be the same, I wonder if this version will use the Olga Van Den Brandt intro with the US logo that’s been popping up in recent video games.

Well, they’re gonna be using the purple logo instead of the blue one. So, basically the standard Olga Rave. Which leads me to thinking, they could adapt Olga’s Hot Seat GFX when they go back to Hot Seat.

I’ve got some news about the special event.
1. The show is going back to Melbourne after the previous move to Queensland due to the COVID outbreak at Dockland Studios. 2. There will only be three episodes of the special event. 3. These special events are only being used a filler due to ATP Cup being cancelled and Australian Open being commenced on February 8th instead of January 20th.

Really excited to see classic come back, even if it is only for a couple weeks, a breath of fresh air after over a decade of Hot Seat (how is this still a thing?)
I find it interesting how they're keeping a lot of the details of the show a secret though, unless it'll just be your stock standard classic format.

I think that after the Special Events, it's high time for Hot Seat to go.

Hot Seat won’t be going, as much as some of y’all might hate it, it won’t happen. Hot Seat being axed would just create more problems for Channel Nine. And this has been officially confirmed, Hot Seat will go on without any changes after the special event.

I don't dislike Hot Seat, but they should spice it up, they brought back FFF which was nice, but they should introduce a second safety net at the $10,000 mark. It would make it more competitive and more interesting to watch. It's unfair when someone answers like several questions in a row and gets one wrong and gets nothing, then the next person could answer the last question correctly and win the major prize. I think it has also lost the dramatic effect with the lack of lighting in Hot Seat, hopefully with the classic versions they reintroduced this aspect.
