I don't dislike Hot Seat, but they should spice it up, they brought back FFF which was nice, but they should introduce a second safety net at the $10,000 mark. It would make it more competitive and more interesting to watch. It's unfair when someone answers like several questions in a row and gets one wrong and gets nothing, then the next person could answer the last question correctly and win the major prize. I think it has also lost the dramatic effect with the lack of lighting in Hot Seat, hopefully with the classic versions they reintroduced this aspect. Well, the second safety net is completely unnecessary, because it was created to be more of a budget friendly format. As for the lights, I think that’s a part of the execution and how the show is executed, that’s where Portugal did a better job than Australia, hell they did a better job in overall. Hot Seat is good as the way it is at the moment, the only thing I just don’t like is the lights changing every question. How hard is it to stick to three light schemes? (excluding Q15) But, let me get back to topic of Classic Millionaire. As I’ve already mentioned, I’m absolutely excited to see how this goes. I don’t know if it’s gonna return after this, but it’s amazing to have it back, even if it’s just for three episodes.

Yeah the lights changing is odd. I'm super excited to have the classic format back. I'm wondering if there'll be some form of cattle prod to make sure they aren't spending too much time on questions. If it's 3 episodes I guess it would be starting the second week of January? I'm just getting memories flowing back from like 15 years ago, feels good ☺️ Who knew a gameshow could make me so excited?

I think that after the Special Events, it's high time for Hot Seat to go. I agree with this, and Classic Millionaire coming back full time in Australia. At least, I hope it will.

I’ve already mentioned this, killing Hot Seat would give nothing but more problems to Channel Nine. Hot Seat has been Channel Nine’s “warrior” against Channel Seven’s “The Chase”. Both game shows do equally well, and they’re up against each other.

If the ATP wasn’t cancelled, we wouldn’t even be getting this. So like, I doubt that it will even return after these three episodes, let alone axe Hot Seat.

More info on the specials. Unfortunately they are celebrity specials, but it’s better than none at all.
Phone a friend and spread the good news – the world’s greatest quiz show, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, is back on Nine.
Lock it in your calendar when Millionaire returns for a special television event from Monday, January 25, at 7.30pm on Nine.
The new series of special episodes will be hosted by Australia’s No. 1 quiz master, Eddie McGuire, and feature a roll call of the nation’s favourite celebrities and sports people, as well as our vital frontline workers.
In the celebrity specials, stars will compete as pairs in a battle to win one million dollars for their favourite charity. The star-studded lineup includes actress Rachel Griffiths with Rhys Muldone, television and radio personality Red Symons with Wilbur Wilde, actor Stephen Curry with Bernard Curry, radio hosts Will McMahon and Woody Whitelaw, actor Samuel Johnson with Hilde Hinton and singer Ella Hooper with Jessie Hooper Two of these celebrities, Rachel Griffiths and Red Symons, are returning to Millionaire after originally competing in a celebrity challenge back in 2000. Redemption will be on their minds as they attempt to take home a million for their chosen charity.
In the Australian sport stars special, athletes including basketball legend Andrew Gaze, AFL hero Gary Ablett Jr, AWFL’s Tayla Harris, NRL icon Billy Slater, Netball’s Geva Mentor, Olympic swimmer Mack Horton and Paralympian Jess Gallagher, will be competing for their chosen charities.
The Who Wants To Be A Millionaire frontline workers special, will feature emergency service professionals and volunteers. After an excruciatingly challenging year keeping Australians safe from fires and COVID-19, now it is time for these incredible people to attempt to walk away with a life-changing sum of $1 million.
Host of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, Eddie McGuire said: “We are starting the year with a bang. Who Wants To Be A Millionaire swept the nation after it premiered in 1999 and is still the greatest quiz show of all time. “It is a joy to bring the format back to raise money for charities with some of Australia’s best celebrities and sport stars. It is also humbling to be able to give Australia’s incredible frontline workers a chance to take home big money.”

It’s a bummer that these will be celebrity specials, but it will still be great to see the classic format return to Australia. Can’t wait to see how the Aussies celebrate the occasion.

They seem to be utilizing the layout that the American reboot's second season has: both frontline workers and celebrities. The difference here is that they're dedicated episodes. I'm hoping this limited event does well.

New promo showing off the set.
Kept it very faithful to the US and UK set but a tiny bit smaller, despite just rejigging the Hot Seat set.

Mmm yes, Olga Van Den Brandt graphics. Makes it even better, also it looks like all 6 contestants in the frontline workers special will be playing. Even better.
