David Goodman also played a really great game. I’d forgotten that so many millionaires were crowned in such a short period of time. Though maybe it seems shorter than it did back in the day because these episodes are airing five days a week.

Though maybe it seems shorter than it did back in the day because these episodes are airing five days a week. Bob House was crowned on June 13th and David Goodman was crowned on July 11th. That's three winners in less than thirty days, and remember two weeks in between were devoted to summer reruns. It was quite a log jam of winners for sure. |

If I was aware of this during the show’s original run, I’d since forgotten about it! I’m grateful to GSN for not covering up Regis’s announcement during the credits with commercials! This incident is a unique little nugget in US Millionaire history.

I think I read the same, but didn't want to share that because I don't remember where I read it. Where did you read it? I saw it on YouTube comments on his run. Also, from what I understand, Bob’s students said he would show his win to the class on the first day of school. |

Yes, his episode aired a couple months later if I recall. They did a special 90-minute episode to accommodate him. The promos for the episode erroneously said that previous contestant Maureen Lawlor was the contestant who played as a result of the mistake. |

There’s just something magical about that August 1999 run. Thank you for sharing. All of Regis in primetime is magical, but you were especially watching something special in August, and I actually still have some vivid memories of it despite being a little kid. I just wish I knew what I was answering when I was trying to shout answers at the TV at the time.

Kudos to GSN for airing the full 90-minute episode of Millionaire today and pairing it with a 90-minute episode of DOND to keep their schedule intact. That channel’s management team really knows their target audience these days.

Today’s episode marked the beginning of a new season. The updated intro sequence made its debut, but interestingly not with the music we typically associate with it. If I recall correctly, the updated theme song will make its debut shortly. There were also some updated lighting effects (yellow lights, the spinning light above the Hot Seat) and new camera angles that were introduced in this episode.
Regis also talked about the show expanding to four nights a week!

I'm glad that opening sequence didn't stick around very long. It's spiffy, but it's an awful lot going on.

I don’t mind the opening intro as much as I do the zooming camera work panning around different angles at the beginning after the intro. That’s very jarring.
